'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel': Days away from season 2 premiere, here is what to expect from season 3

There's no getting enough of Miriam 'Midge' Maisel and the inaugural season of 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' bagging eight Emmy Awards is a proof of that. However, if that is not enough, there's another piece of news; even before the premiere of season two of Amazon Prime's hit show, fans are raving about season 3, which has already been announced by showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino.

The announcement of season 3 came in May when Sherman-Palladino broke the news while accepting the series’ Peabody Award during a ceremony in New York. The marvelous year for 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' also witnessed the comedy secure two Golden Globes including one for its titular star Rachel Brosnahan.

Just days away from the premiere of season 2, anticipation soared high among the show's fans and with season 3 already announced, it's time to talk about what we know about the next-next season so far.

The season will land in the winter of 2019

Note that the first full season of 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' debuted November 29, 2017. The second season is slated to premiere December 5. So, season 3 will likely air next winter. No, this is not just an assumption! The show's official IMDb page lists the airdate of season 3 as '2019.' The shooting and production of season 3 is also expected to begin next spring, so it's only probable the beloved show will follow its usual schedule of filming in spring and dropping in winter.

Season 3 will not be the end of it

The show must go on, and what other show holds this as their adage if not 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.' In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the husband and wife duo Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino revealed they have many more seasons planned out. "I think we know what our trajectory is for the first four to five seasons," Sherman-Palladino said. "And then I just want to see if I'm still breathing at that point. If I am, then we'll continue or Dan and his new wife will continue!" she joked. In fact, Sherman-Palladino wants the show to run for "thirty-five years," as she expressed in the same interview.

The show will likely continue in Amazon Prime Video

'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' was a rare case. Amazon Prime Video, notorious for not renewing shows, instantly called for a second season pick-up of Mrs. Maisel. The show continued to serve as the streaming network's secret weapon and the Palladinos have constantly emphasized on the unique partnership they have with the network. With season 3 picked up as well, it wouldn't be much of a surprise to have more lined up.

"We had a really great relationship with Netflix on the Gilmore movies and we were pretty decided at that moment that the streaming world was our new permanent home forever if we ever worked again. Just because they were people that spoke our language. I sat down with [Amazon Studios head of current hour] Marc Resteghini, and he just was a guy who listened and understood and they felt like a company that was looking to do different stories," Sherman-Palladino told The Hollywood Reporter.

"When I first was at Warner Bros. when dinosaurs were on the Earth and pitched Gilmore, The WB [the network that evolved into The CW] prided themselves as being the network that encouraged voices because they had Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams. Sitting with the Amazon guys felt like even a broader version of that," she added.

As Midge Maisel continues to explore her potential as a stand-up comic, the ground-breaking series will continue to find its ground in the well-crafted skills of the married duo Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino.

Season 2 of 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' airs December 5. We will be on the lookout for more details on season 3. We just can't wait!
