'The Mandalorian': Fan reaction reaches a frenzy as Disney + show release only hours away
With the premiere of the much-awaited ‘The Mandalorian’ so close at hand, fans' excitement is through the roof. Many plan to watch its midnight release right away, while others have declared complete social media blackout until they’re able to get the free time during the day to watch it. The scant details released for the series have led to wild speculation with plenty of fan theories on plot details, character reveals and tie-ins to the larger Star Wars franchise. People can’t wait for the show’s release, and there’s a lot to look forward to.
Some are making it a full-on Star Wars week, with two episodes releasing this week, and the release of single-player video game ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’ on Friday. “We’re in for one hell of a week!!!!” they exulted. One Twitter user is even planning to do a rewatch of Star Wars movies before the show’s release. “Gonna rewatch the Star Wars movies before watching the mandalorian,” they said, taking advantage of their Disney+ subscription.
Other fans are wondering how, and if the show will have any tie-ins to the upcoming ‘Rise of Skywalker’ movie, or even movies beyond it, with one user theorizing, “When you look at the release schedule for The Mandalorian, it is 100% clear that the final episode will both tie into Rise of Skywalker AND extend a thread to the next trilogy.”
With all the mystery surrounding the show, no wonder many of the fans are catching up on their Star Wars lore, absorbing every detail they can. We have our own coverage of lore related to the series covers aspects such as the history of Mandalore, and the titular character’s signature weapon.
The internet is also rife with speculation - most of it centered around the identity of the show’s titular Mandalorian. While it is public knowledge that he will be played by Pedro Pascal, there isn’t a single image of ‘The Mandalorian’ with his helmet off - the show’s producers have not even so much as released the character’s name. One fan wonders if there’s something inhuman lurking beneath the mask, bearing no resemblance to Pedro Pascal at all. “What if Pedro Pascal's Mandalorian looks like this when he takes the mask off,” they speculate, including a picture of a Tuang - an extinct species that became the very first Mandalorians.
It’s not long before the show is out, and every Star Wars fan across the galaxy is ready for the Star Wars franchise’s very first live-action TV show.
The Mandalorian releases midnight Eastern Time, November 12th, on Disney+.
