In last week's episode, despite Julia (Stella Maeve)running a sword clear through him, Seb aka the Dark King (Sean Maguire) just sprung back to life in a few minutes. However, as the promos of season 5 episode 9 'Cello Squirrel Daffodil' show, Eliot (Hale Appleman), Julia, Fen (Brittany Curran), and Margo (Summer Bishil) are unaware that their assassination attempt has failed.

In the sneak peek scene for the upcoming episode, we see Fen and Margo fleeing from Castle Whitespire, fearing reprisal. Margo complains about how long Julia and Eliot are taking. She is also wearing her eye patch again. When Fen asks her about it, Margo tells her that she gave Josh (Trevor Einhorn) her magical eye so that she could keep tabs on him while he alerted their co-conspirators at the castle to run and hide.

The scene then shifts to the pregnant Julia who hasn't told anyone, except Fen, about her condition. Eliot, who accompanies her, hurries her along, not understanding why she is moving so slowly. He warns her that the palace centurions will be after them, and Julia, in particular, is in grave danger since she landed the killing blow.

His words come true seconds later when the palace centurions surround them and they both take up a defensive stance, ready to unleash some battle spells. The trailer of the episode shows a continuation of this scene, where Seb, who is leading the centurions looks at Eliot and says, "Suprised?"

Both Julia and Eliot look stunned when they see the Dark King is alive and well. A voiceover intones: "Fillory can never be free so long as the Dark King reigns" as Margo, Fen and then Alice is shown to look at someone or something, horror writ large on their faces.

We then see Seb, the Dark King, perform some complex magic before he tells someone, menacingly, "I have work to do." We see that both Julia and Eliot are his hostages before Eliot seems to be possessed by something and a frightened female voice asks, "Who are you?"

Despite the sad news of the season's cancellation, fans can look forward to the thrills and chills that will be served up in the upcoming episode.

The upcoming episode of 'The Magicians' airs on March 4 on Syfy at 10/9c.
