'The Magicians': As Margo and Eliot switch bodies to take on the Dark King, fans are in awe
Spoiler alert for 'The Magicians' - Season 5 and Episode 8 of 'Garden Variety Homicide'
Eliot Waugh (Hale Appleman) and Margo Hanson (Summer Bishil) have always had a close relationship - but in this episode, it grows closer than ever as Margo switches bodies with Eliot so she can use his body to stab the Dark King (Sean Maguire).
Though the swap is for murderous means, fans are just thrilled to be able to see Hale Appleman do his best Margo performance - and vice versa. "BODY SWAP BODY SWAP BODY SWAP IM SCREAMING" tweeted this one fan, the moment it happened. "A. Mother. F***ing. Body. Swap. I. Have. Been. Waiting. For. Literal. Fucking. Years. Guys. GUYS. GUYS," exulted another viewer.
It's a move that took the fans by very pleasant surprise. "@hale_appleman playing Margo and @SummerBishil1 playing Eliot is the storyline I never knew I wanted. And this isn't even the musical episode!" writes this fan. The audience felt that both actors did a brilliant job of playing each other's characters. "Seriously. @SummerBishil1, @hale_appleman, this is flawless. We’re not worthy," declares this tweet.
Even the rest of the cast was in awe of the performance, whether or not they got to have any scenes with the body-swapped pair. "Can we just talk about @hale_appleman as Eliot as Margo!?! Freaking brilliant!" writes Jade Tailor, who plays Kady Orloff-Diaz on the show. Brittany Curran, who plays Fen, could not agree more, replying with a behind-the-scenes story about the switch. "BRILLIANT! I wasn't on set when they were filming those scenes, so I (obnoxiously)asked him to act out one of his Eliot-as-Margo scenes for me.
Like a private show. And it was AMAZING, even though I pulled a "dance monkey" on him" with the hashtag MyFakeHusbandCanACT.
