'The Magicians' Season 5 Episode 7: Fans rally for Julia as she argues with Penny on feelings and apocalypses
Spoiler alert for 'The Magicians' Season 5 Episode 7 'Acting Dean'
Penny-23 (Arjun Gupta) and Julia Wicker (Stella Maeve) are going through some relationship problems and fans all know exactly what side they're on as the couple breaks up.
Amid the chaos of an overzealous security system, Julia is dealing with the fact that she stopped the wrong apocalypse and there's a world that still needs saving. Penny-23, however, wants to know when it's enough, when he and Julia can stop having to save the world and just be together.
"I feel like penny 23 and Julia needed to have this discussion for a while now. doesn’t make it easier," wrote one fan on Twitter. The argument between the couple led to them breaking up. "Apocalypse will do that to a relationship" noted a viewer.
One fan believed that Penny may have a point, noting, "Penny makes a good point. Julia seems to have a complex about saving worlds. This could be a case of keeping herself busy so she doesn't have to think." Most fans, however, came out firmly on Julia's side.
"As someone who lives a normal life, I would very much like to be stopping an apocalypse every week," wrote one fan. "Julia's not being selfish, Penny is. Has he ever thought that maybe she doesn't want what he wants?" noted a viewer.
Some tweets, such as this one, have much stronger words for Penny: "Julia doesn’t have time for your self deprecating bullshit Penny. Either you help or sit on your ass and sulk. I am with Julia, you gotta fix this."
One user wrote, "A bad b***h that don't need no man. Why the f*** should she? @StellaMaeve14 playin the f*** out of Julia this season."
Penny-23 and Julia part on reasonably good terms, considering the circumstances. All in all, though, sides have been taken in this break-up — and most of the fans are firmly on the side of Julia Wicker.
The next episode of 'The Magicians' airs on February 26 on Syfy.
