'The Magicians' Episode 7 Promos: Todd sings Mr Pig’s song on Fillory's apocalypse pushing Julia to lead quest

The group is back on apocalypse duty this week since Todd (Adam DiMarco) came in during the end of last week's episode with a bombshell. The chauvinistic Mr. Pig (one of the many delightful talking animals of Fillory), earlier this season, had called on Julia (Stella Maeve) about an impending apocalypse.

He was there to track Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) down and give him the quest. After being informed that Quentin was dead, he rejects Julia's offer of help because she is a woman. Julia, however, decides to take the quest up anyway and is instrumental in getting the gang together to stop Earth's apocalypse.

It is only after the gang has saved planet Earth (and the Moon) that Todd, the Eliot-Margo fanboy, bursts in to tell them that Mr. Pig's quest was about the Apocalypse in Fillory. Since Todd is male, the pig has given him the quest, even though he is not really equipped to deal with it.

In the sneak peek scene for Episode 7 'Acting Dean', we see Todd trying to remember the song Mr. Pig sang to him to describe the quest. "Something, something Fillory/ A most amazing land/ But f*****d by catastrophe and way before we planned/ La-la, blah-blah Fillory/ A land without a god/ Needs a brand new hero/ A strapping lad named...."

This is when Julia interrupts him, with "Todd...", inadvertently finishing the song, before asking him to "please stop." Once Julia gets the gist that Fillory is in danger, she tells Todd that she won't be helping him, but rather taking over his quest.

It feels like Julia has a point to prove to Mr. Pig. Having successfully steered the gang for the fight against the last apocalypse, she feels confident she can tackle another one. But what dangers lie ahead?

In the trailer for the episode, we hear Todd humming the quest song, as we see Eliot (Hale Appleman) with the centurions and Fen (Brittany Curran) with the fairies both witnessing how the Takers spawn by emerging from the ground. There seems to be some connection between the Takers and the Fairy-realm.

Margo has already called out Seb, the Dark King (Sean Maguire), for his genocidal campaign against the fairies. While his heroic battles against the Takers is broadcasted live, his centurions hunting fairies are not.

But if Seb thinks fairies are behind the birth of the Takers, he might have a reason for doing what he is doing. But the fairies seem to be a miserable lot in his kingdom, hiding out in the forest in a makeshift camp, alert to any intruders like Margo (Summer Bishil) who discover them.

There are also some clips of Seb looking pensive and talking to someone after walking alone in the forest, looking like a man with too many burdens. We hope for Eliot's sake that his latest crush is not an all-out baddie, even if he is called "the Dark King".

'The Magicians' Episode 7 airs on February 19 at 10/9c on Syfy.
