Netflix has decided to showcase the real-lives of pirate legends in its upcoming docuseries 'The Lost Pirate Kingdom'. To add to the subject matter that's piqued interest, the series uses a production technique called Hyper Dynamic Animation to recreate the 1715 pirate era with a 4K back projection in front of live-action.

The six-part factual series is a co-production between World Media Rights and ZDF Enterprises, according to a World Screen report. Here's everything you need to know ahead of the series' premiere:

Release date

Plot

The official synopsis reads: "The real-life pirates of the Caribbean violently plunder the world's riches and form a surprisingly egalitarian republic in this documentary series." The series features the real lives of legendary pirates Blackbeard, Henry Jennings, and Henry Vane. In addition, the series also squeezes in the story of female pirate Anne Bonny. World Screen also provides context for the series.

"The end of the war with Spain left British privateers, who worked as a freelance Naval force, out of work," it reads. " Turning to piracy, they continued to take the treasure from the Spanish and were ultimately outlawed by their own crown. They went on to set up the world’s first fully democratic republic in the Bahamas, freed the enslaved, and gave them full voting rights."
