Dakota Johnson's '50 Shades of Grey' breakthrough

The actress had had the talent in her blood owing to being the daughter of actors  Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. But just because she had famous parents doesn't mean she was a shoo-in success. Dakota put in the work and took acting classes later booking some supporting roles in movies. The hits 'The Social Network', '21 Jump Street', ' For Ellen', 'Need for Speed' saw her in small roles which earned her some recognition. She was even part of a failed sitcom 'Ben and Kate' which was canceled after one season, but that didn't deter her and she moved forward.

2015 was the year that everything changed for her and she became one of the most well-known faces in the world. Her part as the lead Anastasia Steele in the erotic drama 'Fifty Shades of Grey' won her international recognition. Her part which had her bare it all for the cameras took audiences by surprise with the movie market buzzing with the release of the racy film that had many people's fantasies come to life with the characters. She was even nominated for a BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2016 for this part.  From there onwards, Dakota has been part of various diverse projects like the thrillers ' A Bigger Splash', 'Bad Times at the El Royale', supernatural horror flick 'Suspiria', the comedy-drama ' The Peanut Butter Falcon' and more.

What is Dakota Johnson's net worth?

According to Celebrity Net worth, the 'Fifty Shades' actress is worth a whopping $14 million. Although she has earnings from previous modeling and acting jobs as of 2020, the three 'Fifty Shades' movies have grossed over $1.325 billion at the box office, making them among the highest-grossing R-rated films of all time. But the success wasn't always guaranteed and the first film of the series 'Fifty Shades of Grey'  did not come with a massive paycheck for Johnson. If reports are to be believed, Dakota took home only $250,000 for her work in the first film in the franchise. But owing to its stunning success, she apparently later negotiated a juicy 7-figure salary for the next two films - 'Fifty Shades Darker' and 'Fifty Shades Freed'.

The actress has indulged and put the money to use and purchased a home in Hollywood Hills in 2016 for $3.55 million. The property lies alongside numerous mansions owned by other celebs, and it was built in 1947 by renowned architect Carl Maston. The four-bedroom home features a lap pool, and Johnson even renovated parts of the interior after her purchase. Look's like she's living the good life and she's earned it all!

'The Lost Daughter' premieres on December 31, 2021, on Netflix.
