'The Last Dance' docuseries lauded for its uncensored language, fans say 'ESPN will get fined heftily'
'The Last Dance' had its reasons to sit well with the audience. One of it apart from the rare unseen footage was the no-holds-barred language that was a predominant feature in the docu-series. Twitterati focused on this aspect and said it was one of the factors that made the series thoroughly enjoyable.
Starting off with this tweet that set the ball rolling: "Five #TheLastDance takes 1. Soundtracks to game highlights were phenomenal 2. Two freaking Presidents were interviewed 3. The ‘Mature Language’ warning was massively overblown. It’s in 2020. 4. What happens if Oak never leaves? 5. Need more ASAP."
"Just in case you wanted to know why ESPN doesn’t give a f**k about the foul language in #TheLastDance The FCC has no jurisdiction over basic cable," wrote a fan.
"Someone please tell all the @espn talent that #TheLastDance language rules do NOT apply to them. #dontgetsuspended," tweeted a fan. "I can't wait to binge the entire #TheLastDance once the last couple episodes are scheduled, this storytelling is top f***ing notch. I've read these stories in a lot of books and articles but to see it in this tapestry, and with more colorful language, brings them to life," seconded another. "I'm glad @espn is letting the language go uncensored. #TheLastDance," opined a fan.
"I know we were warned about strong language but I mean FCK is the pinnacle of strong language... I bet u @espn getting fined heftily," a fan wrote. "Of course I choose the 'contains mature language' #TheLastDance," read a tweet. Some of the common tweets included — "Oh f**k yeah, I love mature language. #TheLastDance", "Mature Language warning?! F**K YEAH!!!! Already love it," "Give me all the bad language #TheLastDance" and "'Mature Language' Half of Twitter just went to bed #TheLastDance."
Guess this disclaimer by one of the fans came in a little late, "Reminder the MA version is on ESPN... The TV-14 version is on ESPN2... so don’t have your kids watching ESPN & then complain about the language..." Some tweets were downright hilarious: "You know we are in a pandemic when E1 gets the right to have some vulgar language on its channel #TheLastDance."
To sum up, "The Last Dance was so good! I loved how raw, the language, the openness! great content! #TheLastDance."
