Major spoilers for season 1 episode 2 of 'The L Word: Generation Q' titled 'Less is More'

When the original run of 'The L Word' came to an end, the big question of the final season went unanswered. Who killed Jenny Schecter? The character, played by Mia Kirshner, who was highly unpopular with both fans and critics was just killed off at the beginning of the sixth season (although she continued to appear through the season in flashbacks) without telling viewers why. The entire season was spent on the events leading up to her death with each episode revealing each character's potential motives for killing Jenny.

So fans waited. They patiently waited for the makers to one day reveal how Jenny just showed up dead in Bette (Jennifer Beals) and Tina's (Laurel Holloman) pool. When 'The Farm' was proposed, a spin-off of 'The L Word', there was a glimmer of hope that fans would finally know. But when the spin-off fell through, we never found out who was responsible for the murder.

And now with 'The L Word: Generation Q', who killed Jenny Schecter is finally revealed. Apparently, she committed suicide in Bette's pool.

As Bette is telling Dani (Arienne Mandi) all the things that could be used against her and her political campaign, she reveals that one of her friends committed suicide in her pool. When Dani asks her the name of this friend, Bette says Jenny Schecter.

And fans are just so disappointed. "We spent 10 years asking who killed Jenny Schecter just for the answer to be in a 3-second throwaway line. 'The L Word' said: no Jenny Schecter does not have rights this is the Alice and Shane show now goodbye," said a fan.

Even though many fans found the reveal to be "anticlimactic", they are glad to finally be in the know. "Well, the Jenny reveal was anticlimactic. But I’m glad that I finally know!"

The fact that one of the most eccentric characters of 'The L Word' was killed off by the makers in suicide is hardly palatable for fans. "It's a bit of a letdown, as awful as that sounds. I know Jenny was unstable but I didn't think they would make suicide canon. Imagine if Bette had said to Dani, "Yes, someone was murdered in my home" instead," noted a fan.

At the same time, many theorized that going by how Jenny was as a character, it should hardly come as a surprise that it wasn't a suicide. "I’m surprised that so many are surprised or disappointed with the revelation of Jenny’s death. She was a dramatic, deranged, and very broken woman. She either destroyed everything good in her life or karma subsequently f****d anything else good in her life for all the god awful stuff she did. I always loved to hate her, but I guess I never questioned it wasn’t suicide. Honestly, if anyone murdered her it was Bette. She’s the only one who could detach and handle something as intense as that and still push forward and excel without that breaking her."

But those who loved to hate Jenny find the reveal just fitting for her character. "I’m glad they didn’t really dwell on Jenny. She’s beyond awful. And honestly after 10 years of her being dead, how else would it have been mentioned?" noted one. "I guessed that she died that way!!!! The reveal was meh...but I guess that's all Jenny deserves," said another.

Even though there are many who disliked Jenny, after finding out about her death, they sympathize with her. "A bit depressing, considering everything she went through. But I think we all saw that coming. No one in the show is messed up to the point of becoming a murderer, but apart from Shane they all treated Jenny like a second-rate member of the group. It’s funny because the show starts with Jenny’s arrival and ends with her death, so we kinda see things from her perspective. But she’s never really accepted into that group, and after she leaves Tim she also loses all contact with her previous social circle. Being Jenny must have been really lonely."
