Spoilers ahead for season 1 episode 2 of 'The L Word: Generation Q' titled 'Less is More'

In the second episode of 'The L Word: Generation Q', we got a hint of the classic 'The L Word' relationship drama.

The only couple in the entire series from the new generation that we meet in the first episode is fighting by the time they get to Dani (Arienne Mandi) and Sophie (Rosanny Zayas).

And while fans are here for the drama — because what is 'The L Word' if not drama — they don't exactly wish to see a repeat of the original run.

After having an epiphany of sorts at the end of the first episode, Dani decides to quit her father's company Nùñez Incorporated — the same company that is contributing to the opioid crisis of Los Angeles — and work with Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals) on her mayoral campaign.

The decision, as well as the realization, is sudden for Dani, who finds it difficult to first break the news to her girlfriend and fiancee Sophie and then her father Rodolfo (Carlos Leal). And when she finally does tell Sophie, it leads to an argument between the two.

Sophie feels that Dani took a big decision without discussing it with her. Especially now that they have gotten engaged, Sophie feels that Dani should have spoken to her before she went ahead and quit Nùñez Incorporated, that is a big decision that should have been conferred with her.

And then, despite being in the midst of their engagement celebrations with Sophie's family present, they continue fighting. It is not fighting or arguing along the lines of exchanging blows, but just remaining distant from each other.

This display of indifference reminded fans of the relationship between Bette and Tina (Laurel Holloman) in the original 'The L Word'. "I hope Sophie and Dani don't become another back and forth Bette and Tina type relationship.

"Thought it felt off this episode that they seemed so distant. The first episode felt like they were very close and had good communication. Sophie was so excited to get engaged," noted a fan.

"Then suddenly this episode they felt like a totally different couple. I get that it’s only 2 episodes in, but I need at least one happy long term lesbian couple represented," the fan added.

"I get the vibe that Dani doesn't really talk much? It feels like Dani knows a lot about Sophie, but Sophie doesn't know a lot about Dani because she doesn't open up. Idk, I just hope they figure stuff out cause I'm already rooting for them," pointed out another fan.

Theirs was an issue that could have been resolved early on — one that definitely did not warrant their reactions. It cannot be debated that what Dani did was wrong — she should have conferred with Sophie before quitting.

Yet if they had just spoken about it, they would have gotten over it sooner than they did. The reluctance to discuss things between them is one that reminds fans of the reluctance between Bette and Tina and how their relationship saw its eventual downfall.

With many fans already rooting for Dani and Sophie, we hope that it is one relationship that will sustain the tides that the show will bring.

'The L Word: Generation Q' airs on Sundays at 10/ 9c on Showtime.
