'The King: Eternal Monarch' Episode 6 marks the beginning of how two worlds can collide. King Lee Gon (Lee Min-ho) learns the truth about the autopsy report of the death of his uncle Lee Lim (Lee Jung-jin) who committed treason by killing his stepbrother who happened to be King 25 years ago. Turns out, the body's physical conditions don't match with his uncle's and neither does the cause of death.

There is a mystery here that Lee Gon is able to solve now because he has seen the other world, so now the king realizes that he is still in danger because of his uncle. Furthermore, he also realizes that he could bring harm to Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun) by being with her.

At the beginning of the episode, we see how Tae-eul tries to get ready to leave Lee Gon's world after feeling isolated and desperate. She understands that it would not be possible for her to stay back, and similarly, neither could Lee Gon give up his throne and stay with Tae-eul. Their relationship is doomed from the beginning. Yet, she cannot help but fall for Lee Gon, bit by bit. He comforts her, cooks for her and ensures that she doesn't feel as desolated as he did when he had first visited her world.

Just as the two of them are now beginning to get closer, Koo Seo-Ryeong (Jung  Eun-chae), the Prime Minister of Kingdom of Corea ends up calling an emergency meeting to discuss action plans after the country intelligence reports about Japanese ships attempting to enter Korean waters. This causes Lee Gon to drop Tae-eul back so that she can return to her world, while he goes to war (or tries to stop it) with Japan. He was a former naval officer himself and he decides that Corea has to push back now, if not Japan will end up taking Corea for granted. As he plans and prepares, Tae-eul, who returns to her own world feels confused about everything she had experienced in the last couple of days.

Yet, she waits for Lee Gon to return to her world as was promised. She gets back to work as if nothing happened and while investigating the death of an abuser, something that she was working on before as well, she hears a recording of a news clip. Initially, it didn't make sense, but now, she hears phrases that she has only heard in one place before. The Kingdom of Corea. This connection freaks her out but she has no one to discuss this with. This makes her antsy.

Meanwhile, Lee Gon, who has already learned that his uncle could be alive and living in Tae-eul's world begins to plan his next move too. However, there is a third person who is now becoming involved in the clash of two worlds and that is Jo Yeong. He has learned that there is someone who looks exactly like Tae-eul in his world. Lee Gon might be unaware of this fact, but Yeong has learned that while Tae-eul's fingerprints are not in the system, the country has someone who looks like Tae-eul and she is a criminal called Luna. As the three of them face truths that seem unbelievable, they also have to uncover a conspiracy that involves both the worlds in upcoming episodes.

'The King: Eternal Monarch' is originally aired in South Korea on SBS at 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The show can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
