Spoilers for 'The King: Eternal Monarch' Episode 2

The second episode of 'The King: Eternal Monarch' sees Lee Min-ho continue to explore the parallel universe that he stepped into but without any help from Jang Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun). In fact, Tae-eul ends up getting increasingly frustrated with his claims about being a king in a parallel universe. She is unable to believe his claims, but it is also strange that a man who arrived riding on a handsome white horse one fine day in Seoul doesn't have any ID on him, but instead carries currency that looks real, and cards that do not work in her world.

King Lee Gon hadn't expected to find the woman whose ID he had found at the scene of his father's murder in the parallel universe. He had considered her to be his savior, and now after finally meeting her 25 years later, he is considering staying back at this parallel universe much longer. Lee Gon meets his security chief Jo Yeong's counterpart Jo Eun-seop as well with the help of money that he gets after selling the diamonds that are a part of his wardrobe. Lee Gon manages to befriend Eun-seop.

However, he is still unaware of how his counterpart in Tae-eul's world had been killed by his uncle Lee Lim (Lee Jung-jin) who had found the door to this universe much before Lee Gon himself. It also became clear that one can travel back and forth between the parallel universes after Lee Lim returned to Lee Gon's world to get his loyal servant to accompany him to the other world. He has a piece of the very powerful bamboo flute, while the other piece is with Lee Gon himself.

The show has just begun, so not much else has been revealed about whether Lee Gon would ever find the truth about his uncle being alive, but what has been revealed is that Lee Gon is wrong about one thing. He believes that Lee Gon's counterpart does not exist in this world, while Tae-eul's counterpart doesn't exist in his world. However, Tae-eul's counterpart is none other than Luna, who was being chased by a couple of thugs in Lee Gon's world and his counterpart as already mentioned, is dead. Now Lee Gon has to figure out how to return to his world and he hopes until then to be close with Tae-eul.

However, all that Tae-eul wants is for him to stop bothering her with stories that do not sound plausible at all. She even tries to get him to be sensible and mentions his family who must be waiting for him to return. At this time, as he has misunderstood a lot about the parallel world, he misunderstands this as well and believes that she wants to confirm that he doesn't have a woman in his life.

So he ends up proposing to her, and in a very snobbish way too as if he were the king of this world as well and this time Tae-eul ends up losing her temper enough to put a stop Lee Gon's excessive expectations. How will the two come to terms with the truth about the other's universe is what we will see unfold in the upcoming episodes.

'The King: Eternal Monarch' is originally aired in South Korea on SBS at 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The show can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
