'The King: Eternal Monarch' episode 13 has major shock stored for viewers as Lee Gon and Tae-eul continue to investigate Lee Lim's affairs in two different universes. The episode begins with Tae-eul learning more about how Court Lady Noh had managed to cross over from her world to the Kingdom of Corea. It turns out she was rescued from the middle of the Korean War by King Lee Gon's grandfather. The point to be noted is that the flute was at that point was intact.

On the other hand, Lee Gon's confrontation with Prime Minister Koo Seo-ryeong takes an important turn. He realizes that she will not hesitate to oppose him if he were to continue to court Tae-eul and call her his Queen. Now that he has seen the burn trails that he has only seen in himself before during thunder and lightning. He comes to the realization that Seo-ryeong has also been to Tae-eul's world. Since he did not accompany her, it would only mean that she collaborated with Lee Lim and that spells treason in Lee Gon's world.

While Seo-ryeong is not aware of what Lee Gon has planned for the prime minister, she sees Tae-eul in the palace and her anger is stoked more. Tae-eul has also realized that Seo-ryeong has been to her world. She did watch her buy shoes at a mall and before she was kidnapped by Lee Lim, she had confirmed the identity as well. So now that she meets Seo-ryeong again, she confronts her about it, and during this altercation, Tae-eul also sees the burn mark that she had previously seen only on Lee Gon. She hurries to tell Lee Gon what she had found, and the two come to the same conclusion. To drop Tae-eul and Eun-seop back in their world.

Before then, however, an attempt is made on Eun-seop's life which he sharply averts. This brings Lee Gon's attention to the fact that the security around him has fallen short somewhere. It is extremely important, especially now that Lee Lim's has actively become involved in bringing Lee Gon down, it is very important that Lee Gon remain secured at all times and the end of the episode goes to prove this point.

In the meanwhile, Tae-eul might have just found out the entry and exit point from the Kingdom of Corea to Korea that Lee Lim uses. However, Lee Gon cannot place men around to watch the spot because time has now come to stop for not less than an hour. From seconds to an hour, the time-lapse is increasing at a rapid pace and Lee Gon has to figure out how to stop this from destroying both his and Tae-eul's world. It is then that he realizes that if he were to explore the noman's land between Corea and Korea, he might be able to manipulate time as well.

Lee Gon's world is already ridden with multiple dangers for himself and Tae-eul, but what the two don't realize is how much Tae-eul's world has changed as well. The fact that Luna is in Tae-eul's world and had also managed to fool Tae-eul's father, even if for a little while is dangerous. Especially when we see her plant a kiss forcefully on Shin-jae, we know that Luna is going to create problems for Tae-eul and Lee Gon and just as expected, she dupes Tae-eul and momentarily fools Lee Gon into believing that she is Tae-eul as well.

It is this moment that marks his fall. After speaking to her for a few moments, Lee Gon comes to the realization that the woman in front of him is not Tae-eul. At the same time, he sees a reflection of himself in a jacket that Tae-eul got him and is struck with an epiphany. The reflection he sees is the same as the person he had met as a child. His savior who had managed to thwart Lee Lim's plans. He realizes pretty quickly that somehow he had managed to learn how to manipulate time at some point in the future and that stopped a huge uproar from taking place in the past. Before he can register the gravity of this, however, he drops unconscious. Turns out Luna managed to drug his beer. Is this the start of the end?

'The King: Eternal Monarch' is originally aired in South Korea on SBS at 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The show can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
