LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ABC just announced some thrilling news about Joan Vassos, known to viewers from her memorable appearance on Gerry Turner's season of 'The Golden Bachelor'.

Vassos has been chosen as the leading lady for the first-ever female-led season of ABC's senior dating show. This announcement was made during the Disney Upfronts presentation in New York City on Tuesday, May 14, sparking excitement and anticipation among fans of the show.

Golden Bachelor recently shared a promotional image of Joan on its Instagram account, teasing the upcoming season of 'The Golden Bachelorette.' "#TheGoldenBachelorette coming this fall," the caption of the Instagram post read.

Fans of the popular dating show quickly noticed the poorly executed Photoshop job on the photo, as the network attempted to erase wrinkles, drawing attention to Joan's face.

On Reddit, a fan said, "My favorite thing about Gerry’s season was all the women marveling at each other’s beauty. And now they go and erase 99% of her wrinkles?? She’s flawless without all that editing, just makes me a little sad."

Another fan noted, "I totally agree. Could be bad Photoshop also, ig, since it’s a shitty BN poster." One fan wrote, "I don’t like the edit they did for this photo."

One fan said, "Since women aren’t allowed to have wrinkles, we’re about to see so much goofy facetuning. (There are some wrinkles here but it’s also edited pretty weird)." Another added, "Whatever they’ve done to this photo certainly isn’t helping people remember who she is…"

Why did Joan Vassos leave ‘The Golden Bachelor’?

Joan Vassos made her first appearance on the Bachelor franchise when she joined the cast of 'The Golden Bachelor,' the first season of the senior dating series featuring Gerry Turner. Despite initially participating in the show, Vassos ultimately decided to depart during the third week of filming.

In October 2023, the ex-participant shared a detailed explanation on her Instagram account regarding her choice to withdraw from the reality show. She provided insights into her decision-making process and the factors that led to her departure.

"My journey to find love took a detour this week as I traded the mansion for motherhood and headed home to be with my family. Family comes first, period. Once a mother, always a mother, I’ll always choose my kids first. Thank you for all of your outpouring love and support, for not only me but also my daughter - everyone is now healthy and happy! As for me and my journey to love… guess we will have to see where it takes me next. Until then, stay golden ✨✨🌹" she shared.

During her appearance on 'The Women Tell-All' episode in November 2023, Vassos delved deeper into the reasons behind her decision to self-eliminate from the competition. She shared that she immediately flew to be with her daughter who was struggling with postpartum depression after giving birth to her baby.

Even though she left early, Vassos expressed her desire to come back to 'The Golden Bachelor' to further explore her connection with Turner. Regrettably, the timing just wasn't right for her to make a return.

During an interview with The Wrap, Vassos talked about her exit and said, “I got home, and my plan was to give [my daughter] some care — I needed to get her some mental health care."

She added, "I was in the process of doing that, and I was approached, and they said, ‘Do you want to come back?’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I’d love to come back, let me see how I’m doing with my daughter.’”
