'The GOAT of GOATS': Jamie Raskin leaves Internet in splits over grammar lesson on George Santos' thank-you note
CAPITOL HILL, WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Jamie Raskin (D-Md) sent a grammar lesson over to Congressman George Santos and a call to step down after he issued a thank-you note to his fellow congressional members who voted against removing him from the House this week.

After avoiding the expulsion effort in the House, New York Republican Santos addressed a letter of thanks and gratitude to his colleagues.

Jamie Raskin, a Democrat from Maryland, annotated the letter, correcting spelling and grammar issues, and wrote, "It's not shameful to resign."
Controversy loves Santos
Santos' congressional stint began in controversy as reporters discovered misleading claims on his resume about his schooling and employment history.
He has also been caught lying about his family history and sporting achievements.

Santos was recently chastised for allegedly misusing political money for personal gain.
On Wednesday, the House chose not to remove Santos or Rep Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich).
More than 30 House Democrats voted against a motion to expel Santos, who was indicted, led by New York Republicans, mostly citing due process concerns.
Several dozen House Republicans had backed the effort earlier this week.
Per Raskin, he voted not to expel Santos out of worry that it would set a dangerous precedent, not to protect or support the vulnerable Republican.
Letter from Santos
Politico obtained a copy of Rep Santos' letter, which had been marked up by Raskin.

"I am writing to express my gratitude to you for standing up for the principals [sic] of due process and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty," Santos (R-NY) wrote in the letter.
"Never in the history of this body has an expulsion been carried out before a member has stood before a jury of their peers and been convicted of the alleged crimes they have been accused. I want to sincerely emphasize that I know that your vote was not done for me, but for the sanctity of this institution and the possibility of setting a very dangerous precedent. For that, I thank you."

Raskin unimpressed with Santos’ letter, copy-edited it by hand and sent it back to him.
"I appreciate your note and only wish someone had proofread it first. Meantime, you should apologize to the people of New York for all of your lies and deceit. I know you must have thought you could get away with it all in the party of Trump, but the truth is resilient." Raskin wrote.
"P.S.," he added. "It's not shameful to resign."
Internet reacts
Netizens have taken to this good old school paper grading from Raskin to Santos and have tweeted their reactions on the same.
Today I learned Jamie Raskin is not only a member of Congress and constitutional law scholar, but also a grammarian, as evidenced by his markup of a “Dear Colleague” from George Santos. Ouch. pic.twitter.com/vB7Rp3caL0
