'The Flash' Season 6: Does Jay Garrick's helmet allow its wearer a glimpse of the future?

The probable working theory could be that this was an ability acquired with all the constant time travel and maybe Barry realizes that the hat is key to knowing what is in store.

Apart from serving as a shield and capable of firing sonic blasts, it looks like Jay Garrick's helmet can also help look at visions from the future and the trailers from 'The Flash' Season 6 seem to suggest just that. The promo 'Prepare for Crisis' shows Barry put on Garrick's helmet and go into a state of shock. What follows next is his description of the bleak future.  At the moment, it is still unclear how the hat acquires the ability. Perhaps spending time in the Speed Force prison has something to do with it.

It belonged to Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp), aka The Crimson Comet, a veteran speedster from Earth-3 and semi-retired vigilante. He was instrumental in helping Barry fight Savitar. He sacrificed himself and took Wally's (Keiynan Lonsdale) place in the Speed Force prison after the Kid Flash was tricked into freeing Savitar.  Thanks to Cisco (Carlos Valdes), he was later freed from the Speed Force, returning and aiding Team Flash in Savitar's final defeat. Barry later voluntarily took his place in the Speed Force, as the Speed Force prison had become unstable without an occupant.

The probable working theory could be that this was an ability acquired with all the constant time traveling and the Speed Force and maybe Barry realizes that the hat is the key to giving him a glimpse of what the future has in store. It’s possible this links him up to the Speed Force as he tells his friends, through tears, that he saw "billions of countless futures, billions of deaths.”

You can watch the promo that gives a glimpse of the helmet's future-predicting abilities here:

He also warns them that they can’t stop what’s coming. He may not have used the word 'Crisis' here, but it's a pretty clean reference to the imminent event. It is also possible that Barry may wear the hat in the season opener, 'Into the Void' after Team Flash meets the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) who arrives in the time vault to warn Barry about the impending 'Crisis.'

Guess we'll have answers to these when 'The Flash' Season 6 premieres on October 8 on The CW.
