'The Flash' Season 6: What is Black Hole and why is Iris in grave danger?

And 'The Flash' is back with a formidable foe post 'Crisis', and unfortunately, the speculation and theories about the new secret organization being Spyral is not true, it is called Black Hole instead.
The episode sees Iris and her team at the Central City Citizen, Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton) and Kamilla Hwang (Victoria Park) investigating Maelstrom, a shadow corporation in connection to meta-human smuggling. Iris follows a lead, Gene Huskk who has had a run-in with Maelstrom, and he reveals the organization was a front for the Black Hole.
The mysterious organization has a logo as well, which is shaped like a spiral, except, it isn't Spyral. Black Hole's origin goes back to the 'The Flash's Rebirth' comics.
According to Fandom, Black Hole is best described as: "An extremely dangerous Central City Criminal Organization who are comprised of Rogue Scientists who have studied The Speed Force trying to harness the power of The Speed Force. They have made advance tech mainly weapons that have been used against Speedsters but also used by normal criminals to use for crimes in Central City." Incidentally, the founder is Gorilla Grodd (voiced by David Sobolov on the TV show).
Kimiyo Hoshi is introduced as one of the assassins who is part of Black Hole. She attempts to kill Iris and manages to injure her badly. She is also seen to have a scrimmage with Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) but stands down when she gets the order to stop the attacks.
For now, the threats they pose look grave and that's Team Flash's first mission: Stop the new evil. Especially with Iris being in their crosshairs.
