'The Flash' Season 6: Crisis, Barry's dying powers and Iris in trouble that's all the turbulence we can take
Ouch, ouch, and ouch. Though last season gave us a punch in the gut with Nora's erasure from history, nothing seems to have prepared fans for the firestorm of emotions that Season 6 has brought. Crisis, Bloodwork, Eva McCulloch, Mirrorverse has drained out Barry Allen and fans as well.
In the first half of the season, Barry prepped his team for his impending disappearance in the Crisis. There were many tear-jerking scenes and denials, for instance, Joe West (Jesse L Martin) breaking down and telling Barry that he couldn't imagine a world without him. Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) was desperate to do anything to save his friend. Iris (Candice Patton) was determinedly going about her life, but we knew that was just a facade. In the middle of all this, they had to fight the blood-bender Bloodwork (Sendhil Ramamurthy). There was a point where he managed to infect Barry and almost won him over to the dark side. That was a haunting episode, as Barry revealed that he didn't want to die in Crisis, he wanted that happy ending with Iris. He wanted Nora back. Luckily, Iris and Cisco saved him in time and then Crisis struck. The multiverse was destroyed and rebirthed. Barry lost his close friend Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in the process. Was everything fine then? Hell no, how would the show go on, otherwise?
Iris got zapped into the Mirrorverse and a mirror-clone took her place. Barry did notice something was off, but unfortunately, the death of the speed force, who is in the form of his mother Nora, occupied his mind. He had to witness his mother Nora die again and that was gut-wrenching to watch. Reverse-Flash made a grim return and prised open Nash Wells's (Tom Cavanagh)'s unhealed wounds about his daughter, who died. The emotional blows just kept coming and coming, didn't they?
They got rid of Reverse-Flash for a bit, but he will be back. Finally, an exhausted Barry realized that he is living with some mirror clone of Iris after he gets booted out of his own house for sending her father Joe to Witness Protection. Despite not seeing each other, Barry and Iris share a touching conversation, that they will find their way back to each other. Hopefully, it won't be too late before that happens as being in the Mirrorverse is taking a toll on Iris.
In the latest episode, Barry gives one of his pep talks and says that they've all lost so much this year. But yet, they have hope that they will get Kamilla and Iris out of the Mirrorverse.
'The Flash' Season 6 has kept us on our toes with its worrying twists and turns. The finale promises to be a nerve-wracking one as Barry throws caution to the winds to get Iris back.
