'The Flash' season 5: Cicada's power and weakness revealed in the new episode

CW's 'The Flash' in its recent episode just gave a big revelation to fans about the villain Cicada, played by Chris Klein and his powers. So many Cicada joke!!

In the second episode of this season titled 'Blocked,' Team Flash is going through a lot. Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash, played by Grant Gustin helps XS, played by Jessica Parker Kennedy sharpen her skills, Cisco, played by Carlos Valdes gets over being dumped by Gypsy, and Caitlin, played by Danielle Panabaker is stunned by the possibilities over her father's fake death certificate. All these events lead to the team towards their first loss while facing Cicada.

Cicada's powers are directed in lightning shaped daggers, as expected. In Comic books, this dagger of Cicada's helped siphon a person's life force, which Cicada used to become immortal and develop a cult following. The TV series is taking creative liberty as Cicada is not a cult leader but a street fighter. also, in the tv series, his dagger does not only siphon energy but also, block meta-humans powers.

During the fight, it was known that Cicada's daggers appear before he gets defensive to "steal" the powers away from Barry, Cisco and, Ralph, played by Hartley Sawyer AKA Elongated Man. However, at the S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco is able to vibe Caitlin's dad's death certificate, which Caitlin see her mother writing. But, this makes us understand that Cicada's daggers are only effective when he is near meta-humans and not otherwise.

This was just a glimpse of what Cicada can and cannot do, as the season progresses we will be able to see more of his powers. while cicada is not an imposing threat like Zoom, Reverse-Flash, Savitar or for that matter even The thinker, but he is new and unknown, and what's unknown can be dangerous.

'The Flash's next episode will air on October 23 on The CW.
