NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: California Governor Gavin Newsom has expressed concern over his children's internet consumption as he revealed his son's interest in popular podcasters like Joe Rogan. He went on to slam such podcasts as "micro-cults".

However, Foc News' Greg Gutfeld was not happy with Newsom's comments and mocked him for labeling the podcasts as cults. He came in to defend the podcasters while attacking "progressive woke Democrats", who according to him were more fitting of Newsom's accusations.

Gavin Newsom anxious over son discovering Joe Rogan's podcast

Newsom, in a recent interview with Bloomberg, revealed that he was anxious over what his children were seeing and listening to on the internet. His concern specifically had to do with the misinformation being spread on various platforms, especially by what he called "micro-cults."

"I really worry about the misinformation, disinformation… about what's happening with our country, but I really worry about these micro-cults that my kids are in," Newsom explained.

"I say micro-cults because I don’t know if there’s a better way to describe it. My son is asking me about Andrew Tate, Jordan Petersen. And then immediately he’s talking about Joe Rogan. And I’m like, here it is, the pathway," he added.

These three podcasters among other internet personalities have been repeatedly criticized for spreading problematic ideas related to masculinity, misinforming listeners on serious issues like Covid-19, and making controversial statements against racial and sexual minorities.

But, 'The Five' host Greg Gutfeld could not hear a word against them as he turned the criticism to wokeism once again.

Greg Gutfeld says 'progressive wokes' are the problem

Gutfeld attacked Newsom for calling the podcasters a cult, making clear what the definition of a cult really is.

"A cult tells you who you really can or cannot talk to," Gutfeld described, "It ostracizes people that aren't in the cult."

He said that the definition did not apply to the podcasters, except Tate, as they ask people to go out and talk to different people.

Gutfeld also claimed that it was Newsom's intolerance for different worldviews that made his children look for the podcasts while saying that the Democrats are more like a cult.

"There is a movement that tells you who you can and cannot talk to and ostracizes people: it's the progressive woke Democrats," Gutfeld said.

"It's rich that Newsom calls these people a cult when his own party is rebirthing Mccarthyism...Gavin should look in the mirror and not just to check his hair," he said.
