The Duo on 'Shark Tank': What is the cost and how to buy two-handled umbrellas for you and your child
REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA: In 'Shark Tank' Season 15, Nathaniel Wellen pitches The Duo, his family business's latest revolutionary product. Their revolutionary dual-handle design makes sharing an umbrella safe and straightforward.
On Friday, January 19, a Redondo Union High School student will appear on the television show 'Shark Tank' to present his idea. Nathaniel's creation, a dual-handle umbrella, will be featured on the popular ABC show, now in its 15th season.
Join ShedRain in a joyful rain dance as they commemorate this significant occasion. The organization expresses humility, pride, and thanks to the devoted staff and dependable partnerships who have maintained its umbrella right side up.
ShedRain looks forward to a bright (and wet) future, driven by the same enthusiasm that started their adventure in 1947.
According to a press release from the Redondo Beach Unified School District, Nathaniel will be accompanied by his sister, Katherine Wellen, a Parras Middle School student, as he presents his idea to the investors, or "Sharks," who make up the panel of the business reality program.
What is The Duo?
As raindrops fall and umbrellas open, the narrative of ShedRain, which dates back to 1947, continues to unfold. Nathaniel, the great-grandson of one of the founders, will introduce the company's latest innovation, The Duo, on the forthcoming 'Shark Tank' episode on January 19, 2024.
ShedRain's story is not just one of endurance, but also of evolution, adaptability, and a dedication to excellence. Honoring the Founders: "We wish our founding grandfathers could see us now. We wish they could see the legacy they built and the way that we have honored and carried it for three-quarters of a century."
ShedRain's dedication to its founders' vision has laid the groundwork for 75 years of greatness. In a world significantly different from the one in which ShedRain began, the firm credits its success to unshakeable principles, exceptional engineering, community links, forward-thinking coworkers, and good old-fashioned hard work.
ShedRain's journey across the decades is an interesting look at an ever-changing business. ShedRain continually pushed the envelope, from the 1950s, when all umbrella parts were manufactured in the Eastern United States, to the 1960s, when the firm introduced beauty and flair to the female market.
The "Bubble" revolution occurred in the 1970s, while the 1980s witnessed purposeful collaborations in the midst of loss. The umbrella became a fashion statement in the 1990s, while wind protection advances emerged in the 2000s.
The recent decade has seen the introduction of award-winning lines like as Stratus™ and Vortex, demonstrating ShedRain's dedication to elegance and functionality. Now in the 2020s, ShedRain is reinventing what it can do to further protect clients from the weather.
The Duo, a patented umbrella with twin handles for two people, is expected to create waves on 'Shark Tank'. The Duo, which received a US Patent (No. 10,143,276 B1) on December 4, 2018, exemplifies ShedRain's ongoing commitment to innovation.
Who is the founder of The Duo?
According to the press release, Nathaniel developed his entrepreneurial drive at a young age when he participated in the school district's middle school Invention Convention during the 2021–22 school year. From there, he progressed to the National Innovation Convention, where he finished second and received the "Originality Award" for the unique innovation. According to the news release, he beat out 144,000 entrants nationally, "likely in part to his granted patent for the dual-handle umbrella."
Nathaniel's innovation enables a parent and child to carry an umbrella at the same time. These accolades won him an invitation to the competition's global stage.
According to the RBUSD Invention Convention website, the Invention Convention is a global organization that promotes invention and entrepreneurship among students in grades transitional kindergarten through 12th. It is "similar to a science fair" in which children may showcase their inventions to the community and beyond.
What is the cost and how to buy The Duo?
Nathaniel is the great-grandson of one of the founders of ShedRain, a global umbrella firm that has been in operation since 1947. To his credit, he has umbrellas in his blood, having patented a design for a dual-handled umbrella in 2018.
The product is a two-handled umbrella designed for usage by two people. It does not appear to be in production yet, therefore he will be seeking a Shark to assist with that.
A review from ShedRain's official website reads, "I have had my umbrella for years and barely used it. I got it at a Target store and since it was calling for a bad wind storm and rain today, I decided to use it. It stood up to the heavy wind and rain so I decided to see what kind of umbrella it was and looked it up on line. I was very impressed with the quality of umbrellas they had on line so I’m gonna order me some more from this online place. ShedRain you top them all. I give 1000 percent rating."
Where is The Duo now?
ShedRain's appearance on 'Shark Tank' signals the beginning of a new chapter in their remarkable history. ShedRain's path from a tiny repair business in Portland to a pioneer in umbrella design demonstrates the company's resiliency and commitment to quality.
The heritage carries on, and with The Duo, ShedRain asks us to experience the delight of remaining dry together, symbolizing the company's ongoing energy and inventive brilliance.
Who will steal the deal?
We aren't expecting Nathaniel to secure a deal. This is a child who grew up in "the umbrella business" and developed a helpful invention.
The Duo is not yet in production; therefore, Nathaniel will request funds to get it started. He may be clever, but his family firm is well-funded and does not require an investment.
The Sharks may not brand him as a gold digger, but they will see through this commercial.
