'The Deuce' Season 3 Episode 3 stills feature HBO show's women; Candy at typewriter, Lori with rock band and Abby meeting new people
'The Deuce' Season 3 has so far led with the women of the show Candy aka Eileen Merrell (Maggie Gyllenhaal), Lori Madison (Emily Meade), Abby Parker (Margarita Levieva) and Melissa (Olivia Luccardi), supported by interesting subplots about gay couple Todd Lang and Paul Hendrickson. In the upcoming episode of the season, we expect these subplots to be developed further as the stills released by HBO also hint at the same.
For instance, a still of Candy looking at a typewriter hints at how serious she really is about telling the story of women who have worked the streets and have been a part of the porn industry. In the second episode, we saw Candy have a conversation with sex worker Melissa and take notes while also reminiscing about her days on the street.
The fact that she did not have a man, in comparison to how Melissa feels about being protected by men, is just one of the things Candy seems intrigued by. So while Harvey may pull back his investment, it looks like Candy is ready to proceed further with no second thoughts.
Then we have Lori Madison, a former prostitute who was taken care of by CC, and after his death, she went through a transformation and is now one of the biggest stars in the porn film industry. In the previous episode, we saw Lori being asked to accept that fact that she should be okay with a corn cob being stuffed in her a**.
She is told by her agent that this is what she should do if she wants to remain in favor among famed directors. This, however, is not something Lori wants to do, and from the looks of a couple of stills that were released, it looks like Lori has found something that she may love. Lori is seen posing with a couple of musicians, complete with makeup and she looks gorgeous as strikes a pose next to one of them. Also, this doesn't look anything close to a porn film. This will be something to look out for.
Then we have Abby Parker, who is currently with Vince Martino but there is no more spark in their relationship. She knows Vince is flirting with his ex-wife but that is not something Abby seems to be paying attention to. Instead, she is funding things she thinks are important and this includes giving donations to local hospitals that help a woman suffering from substance abuse among other things.
The only reason Abby is not interested in being a part of 'Women Against Porn' is because she thinks that freedom of expression is not something to be trifled with. As she says in the previous episodes, only where there is freedom to make porn will they have the freedom to express bigger, more important things in the future. In the upcoming episode, we may see her take further steps to help the community.
Then we have Melissa, who is still turning tricks as the term goes, to keep herself employed. She is immature felt others, but there is a lot more to her than what one sees on the surface. This was definitely visible in the previous episode through her conversation with Candy. We will see more of her story in the upcoming episode.
