FLORENCE, ITALY: The concluding episode of Netflix's 'The Decameron' is packed with action as the wall between nobility and servants crumbles, with both factions battling the mercenaries brought by Pampinea (Zosia Mamet).

The show, created by Kathleen Jordan, is a screen adaptation of Giovanni Boccaccio's work of the same name and is set against the backdrop of the Black Death pandemic which claimed numerous lives.

Amidst this, a group of nobles and their servants decide to retire to Villa Santa, where they intend to spend their days, but as the show progresses, a distinct class divide emerges, with the nobles leading a lavish existence while the rest of the world is battling for their survival.

In the last episode of the show, Pampinea gives her dowry to Eric, the head of the mercenaries, in hopes of getting control of the villa.

However, Eric declares that he will possess the villa, indicating that Pampinea's cleverness has backfired miserably. During the turmoil, Panfilo (Karan Gill) kills Eric, which leads to the fury of the other mercenaries. Sensing the dismal situation, the gang tries to survive, but survival comes at a high cost as several favorite characters lose their lives.

After years of being under Pampinea's control, Misia (Saoirse-Monica Jackson) eventually resolves to take matters into her own hands as she brings Pampinea to the basement and shockingly burns down the barrel where she asked her to hide, emphasizing that she is no longer under Pampinea's authority.

Sirisco (Tony Hale) decides to burn down the villa after one of his subordinates' death at the hands of mercenaries.

With the basement on fire and smoke spreading throughout the villa, everyone gathers and decides to depart, knowing they no longer have a home.

Panfilo resolves to take a chance as he walks to his beloved Neifile's (Lou Gala) room, who has died due to the epidemic.

In an attempt to shock and divert the mercenaries, Panfilo devises a suicide plan in which he brings a dead Neifile towards the enemies while screaming 'pestilence!' and sure enough his plan succeeds, but Panfilo is shot by many arrows, putting an end to his life.

Tindaro, on the other side, is seen battling the mercenaries, but owing to his previous wound, he lags.

When Stratilia's (Leila Farzad) son Jacopo (Aston Wray) is assaulted by a mercenary, Tindaro rushes at him, knowing full well that Stratilia does not love him, and sacrifices his life to defend her and Jacopo.

In the next scene, the group manages to escape to the forest, where Sirisco's servants abandon him.

In the aftermath, the group is shown wailing under heavy rain before being led to the secret refuge of sisters Filomena (Jessica Plummer) and Licisca (Tanya Reynolds). In the next scene, the sisters also make amends.

In the concluding moments of the show, the group is shown enjoying their lives free of the burdens of class and status.
