‘The Curse of Oak Island’ Season 7 Episode 3: Silver button spurs Lagina brothers’ pursuit for answers in ‘The Eye of the Swamp’

Offering a significant clue, the button could also be from a time when Oak Island wasn’t inhabited, and the farmers used it for cultivation to safeguard themselves from the predators.
UPDATED NOV 20, 2019

The saying “Winners never quit, and quitters never win” best defines the members of the Oak Island team, who have been burning the midnight oil for years now, in search of truth hidden beneath the surface of Oak Island, which has now turned frustratingly elusive. But the spirit of Lagina brothers and the rest of the team has overpowered even the most reasonable doubts concerning the mysterious region and what it has been hiding for centuries.

In the beginning of Episode 3 titled ‘The Eye of the Swamp’, Rick states that this year might have more answers to offer than questions. Although the members of Oak Island are being highly optimistic, another year on the Oak Island started with anticipation and profound sadness, following the demise of Dan Blankenship.

In the previous episode, the researchers come across a humongous angular object at the bottom of the swamp, which they believe is an immersed ship. However, despite their fanatic search for what lies beneath the surface, they were left with many unanswered questions and extreme disappointment.

The search for the ship resting some 55 feet beneath the surface continues, while ‘The Eye of the Swamp’ also briefly focuses on the slip-away. The experts arrive at Isaac’s point in search of objects or clues that could help them achieve more clarity.  Because of its proximity to Smith’s Cover, the team believes that by searching the surrounding area, they might find artifacts connected to the mysterious structures they found last year. With the help of a metal detector, they unearth a certain spot on Isaac’s Point to find a silver button, which is believed to date back to the 18th century or earlier.

Offering a significant clue, the button could also be from a time when Oak Island wasn’t inhabited, and the farmers used it for cultivation to safeguard themselves from the predators.

The rest of the episode follows diving deep in the water to examine mysterious objects, long parades to the swamp and usage of sonic drilling and a couple of floating twenty-ton barges to extract samples from as deep as 300 feet.

As they dig deep into the murky depths of the swamp, what do they find? That it was artificially made? Or consists a doorway that directly leads to the money pit? We need to wait until the next episode for the answers, probably!
