'The Challenge': Wes-Bananas patch up after a decade of enmity, fans call reunion a 'cinematic love story'

MTV's 'The Challenge: Total Madness' is full of surprises. The elimination challenges always bring out the best in people because that is their last shot at moving ahead in the competition but people have bad days and it was one for Wes Bergmann, who was bested by Johnny 'Bananas' Devenanzio.
On any other day, it would lead to Johnny gloating having defeated his arch enemy but this time it was different. Both Wes and Bananas were moved to tears. They even hugged each other.
Why is this a big deal? Wes and Bananas share a lengthy past of hatred, betrayal and enmity, which had led fans to believe that when it came them reconciling - all bets were off. But the two did the unthinkable in today's episode. They have been at loggerheads for over a decade now and it all began when Bananas decided to choose people who targeted Wes. Viewers got a whiff of an impending feud. But the two proved them wrong by making peace in the next season but who knew it was just the calm before the storm. Wes threw Bananas into the elimination round that year.
Six years ago, when 'Battle of the Exes 2' aired, the two made it very clear they will not be working together. But look at them now - the friction seems to be a thing of past and it seems the two are ready to bury their past and move on.
Meanwhile, fans didn't hold back while sharing how emotional the reunion was. "This Bananas and Wes friendship is like the cinematic love story we’ve been dying for," a fan commented, while another shared: "Maybe it’s this Quarantine, maybe it’s the Hootie & The Blowfish....but this Bananas & Wes embrace is straight up getting me right in the feels. What an episode."
"Lmao Johnny and Wes love right now. I love it. I always knew bananas loved Wes," a viewer expressed. "Why am I crying at Johnny saying one of his biggest regrets while doing this show is not befriending Wes sooner," another tweeted.
"Wes & Bananas hugging & close to tears after a challenge. Seriously who would’ve thought," a user posted, while another wrote: "Beautiful moment, who saw a day you and Wes would be hugging at the end of a battle like that Bananas friends so sweet."
