'The Brothers Sun', featuring Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien, and Sam Song Li, revolves around a gangster family that is repeatedly attacked by unknown assassins and the Sun family must find a way to survive. Here's a recap of the second episode.
Bruce Sun is introduced to his family's dark secrets
After an eventful night of meeting his elder brother after 15 years and watching him kill men at a club, Bruce Sun (Sam Song Li) wakes up to the dreadful sight of him packing a dead body in the suitcase. Bruce, who was told by his mother Eileen (Michelle Yeoh), that his brother works in Antarctica with penguins while his father is a gambler, gets the biggest shock of his life, as he comes to know that he hails from a gangster family.
Bruce has an important test coming up at his premed school while his brother Charles Sun (Justin Chien) wants his help in getting rid of the dead body. Eileen wants Bruce to stay away from violence as she describes him as "skinnier than a girl."
However, Charles believes that Bruce also needs to take up the family's responsibility. He hands him a bag loaded with a dead man's head while he loads the suitcase carrying his remaining body parts. Eileen tells Charles a way to get rid of the body while she gets on with a task of her own. The meat taker snitches on Charles and a group of assassins attack him once again. Bruce also gets caught up in the action and makes a lucky escape from the crime scene.
As Charles roams around the city with a head in his handbag, and his jacket stained in blood while he enjoys Churros, the cops surround him. Alexis, the Deputy DA, recognizes Charles, with whom she spent her childhood back in Taipei. Charles luckily makes a narrow escape, courtesy of his brother.
On their way back home, Charles tells Bruce about their family history and mentions that secrecy is their strength. Bruce takes a dig at him mentioning that everyone in LA seems to know him as 'Chairleg'.
Eileen Sun takes charge
As Charles reaches home, Eileen schools him for not listening to her. Meanwhile, she takes him by surprise when she reveals the identity of the dead man. She warns him that they are no longer in Taiwan, the police aren't in their pockets and they'll have to act in a certain manner to survive.
Will Alexis snitch on Charles Sun?
Alexis (Highdee Kuan) shows up at the Sun residence. She connects the dots and realizes that Charles is behind the killings at the club. While Charles plays innocent, Alexis says that she knows all about his "family business" back in Taiwan.
Will Alexis report Charles to the cops or does she have some other plans? With Alexis knowing about Charles' history, will it get difficult for him to dispose of the bodies of more men he is about to kill?
The second episode ends at a thrilling point with the entry of a mystery girl at Bruce's school. Bruce looks terrified and the reason is unknown! Meanwhile, someone has also kidnapped Bruce's best friend. Who is behind the attacks and kidnapping? Guess, we'll have to find out in the upcoming episodes.
