By the end of 'The Boys' Season 3, the key characters especially the protagonists all make it out in one peace. But, it sure won't be that way in the already-confirmed Season 4. Karl Urban's Billy the Butcher will be one of the frontrunners to kick the bucket in the upcoming season. He does narrowly escape death in this installment, but the countdown has begun after he continues using Temp V even after Starlight warns him of the side effects.

He manages to save Hughie (Jack Quaid) by knocking him out so he could use the compound and take on Homelander on his own. However, things go haywire when Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) goes out of control and decides to kill Homelander and his son Ryan. Butcher takes on the supe, while Maeve (Dominique McElligott) takes on the leader of the Seven. The battle at Vought tower ends with Soldier Boy back on the ice, while Maeve loses her powers and goes into the shadows for some time. Homelander still remains America's hero.

Is Butcher dead or will he die in 'The Boys' Season 4?

In the aftermath of the Vought showdown, Butcher collapses after his nose started bleeding and later wakes up in the hospital. While he doesn't hear the first part of what the doctor says, he gravely looks as if the doctor gives him less than two years to live. With that, he shifts back to typical Butcher mode with a cigarette and later meets the Boys who have officially welcomed Anne/Starlight (Erin Moriarty) into the fold. As they watch Victoria Neuman take over as VP candidate, Butcher walks in saying the congresswoman is the next one on their kill list.

Safe to say, that if Season 4 is indeed the final installment, then Butcher's death would bring his character arc to a full circle. While he's not killed in Season 3, there's no saying that he won't die in the next edition. This would mean he would continue to use Temp V to take the fight to Neuman. While her ability to explode people's brains does give her the upper hand, Butcher just might use his brains to get the better of the mysterious supe. That said, his future does look bleak. There's no doubt though, that he will go down swinging, with or without powers.

'The Boys' Season 3 is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
