This story contains major spoilers for 'The Bold Type' Season 4 Episode 3 titled 'Marathon'

The Scarlet Magazine is undergoing an evolution and with it changing the lives of Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens), Kat Edison (Aisha Dee), Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy) and Jacqueline Carlyle (Melora Hardin).

The changes begin to reflect in their personal lives almost immediately as Jacqueline’s new situation at work leads to tension with her husband, who tells her he is going to cover the Russian Revolution. Sutton's personal life is waiting to take off, she feels like she is lacking something in her professional life. She starts to feel she’s going backward in her career and looks for a way to improve her value to Scarlet.

In the upcoming episode, titled 'Marathon', Kat takes it upon herself to help someone from the LGBTQ+ community — going out of her way (as is classic Kat) — to help a transgender runner get into the New York City Marathon.

Elsewhere, it looks like Jane must finally accept that her relationship with Ryan is facing its own share of troubles since his return from the book tour. In order to rebuild their relationship, Ryan and Jane try a different kind of marathon (if you know what we mean). But going by the promo for the episode, we don't think they make it even halfway. Jane cannot bring herself to trust Ryan.

And fans aren't quite happy with where their courtship stands as of this episode. "Because the writers completely overturned Ryan's character development and soured their relationship as a result... He literally changed the way because he wanted to be with her and all of a sudden he kissed someone else out of the blue. Sorry, it still makes no sense to me and it bothers me! I want all the girls to be happy with their partners!" noted a fan.

Will Jane and Ryan be able to reconcile? Will Jacqueline allow herself the time to find common ground with her husband?

'The Bold Type' airs on Thursdays at 9/ 8c on Freeform.
