'The Bachelorette' 2022: Fans slam Jason for agreeing to overnight date, calls him 'Red Flag'

'The Bachelorette' episode from September 6 featured a fantasy suite date where Gabby Windey ended another romance

MEXICO, NORTH AMERICA: The Fantasy Suites for ABC's 'The Bachelorette' Season 19 are well underway, and Gabby Windey's much-anticipated date with Jason Alabaster aired on September 6. However, fans are perplexed after seeing Jason make his way to the fantasy suites despite saying that he is definitely not ready to settle down anytime soon.

Gabby Windey's first night at 'The Bachelorette' Season 19 Fantasy Suites was a mixed bag. She removed Johnny DePhillipo after realizing she didn't have a strong enough relationship with him to proceed, and they parted on good terms. She also had a really successful overnight date with Erich Schwer. Nevertheless, towards the end of the episode, Erich told Gabby that he didn't like the fact that she was maybe having other physical interactions with other guys. Jason and Gabby hit it off right away on the second night, but something goes wrong during Fantasy Suites week.

The second night of the Fantasy Suites featured the date between Jason Alabaster and Gabby. At the Grand Luxxe - Vidanta resort in Mexico, they go on a daytime date. Tennis and swimming were part of their date. They then proceed to their dinner date at the Havana Moon restaurant, when things begin to unravel. Jason admits to Gabby during their dinner date that he doesn't think he knows her very well. Over dinner, Jason understood he had to be "transparent and honest" with Gabby and express his true feelings. “Obviously I do know that I’m into you and when I’m with you I feel like I’m having some of the best days ever,” Jason explained to Gabby. “I know what the expectation of this is for a lot of people — being engaged and being fully in love. To be completely transparent and honest, I don’t think I’m fully there yet. I think it’s because in this environment it’s constantly in my head, like, what’s real and what’s not. I’m questioning so many things. I just don’t think in another seven days I’ll be ready for that.” Gabby was definitely taken aback by Jason's disclosure, especially because he was one of her two remaining men, along with Erich Schwer. Gabby questioned Jason's ability to picture her in his future, and he stated that they weren't able to properly get to know each other in a setting with cameras and microphones. Gabby turned away from the talk to have a moment to herself, during which she became tearful.

Gabby returns to the table after a brief moment to ask Jason if he still wants to stay overnight and see whether the two have a future. Gabby was concerned that if they tried to be together at this time, they'd be "pulling at strings." Nevertheless, Jason reassured her that he could envision a future with her, which put her at peace. They planned to spend the night together in the dream suite to obtain some privacy and alone time, hoping that it would improve their bond even more. Fans who were already upset by Jason acting as if he didn't know 'The Bachelorette' journey ended in an engagement were furious that he consented to the overnight date and Gabby for granting him the opportunity.

Doubting Jason's intention to wait till the overnight date made fans comment: "What the actual fuck was said behind closed doors?!? Seeing Jason say he wasn't ready to commit but agreeing to the overnight date, fans tweeted: "Unreal. I'm not going to marry you. But I still want to get you naked and THEN say this isn't going to work. WOW. WOW. WOW."

Even though fans feel Jason has reasonable reasons to not get engaged but his waiting till the last moment, rubbed fans the wrong way: "I think it’s fine to not want to get engaged but bro u said u couldn’t see a future with her and then said u could so like which is it #liar #TheBachelorette." Hoping Gabby to see the red flags in Jason, a fan wrote: "#TheBachelorette Gabby reminds me of the movie He's Just Not That Into You Gabby you are getting the Okie Doke speech It's NOTHING to figure Out Ladies STOP going forward when a Red Flag is there the size of a KING Size bed Sheet." Another fan labeling Jason 'a creep' wrote: "Really bad decision, Gabby. Jason doesn’t care about you or he wouldn’t have put you in this position. A night together won’t change a thing. Except Jason will be VERY happy. The guy is a creep." Another tweet from the disappointed Bachelor Nation read: "Bachelor Nation when Gabby still spends the night with Jason after he told her he doesn't see an engagement with her and Erich said he'd feel like it'd be cheating if she did #bachelorette #TheBachelorette."
