Contains spoilers for 'The Acolyte'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' Episode 5 aired on Disney + on June 25, 2024. The gripping episode brought with it an exciting revelation that had been teased throughout the first four episodes of 'The Acolyte'. The mysterious masked figure who was pulling the strings for Mae (Amandla Stenberg) is revealed to be Qimir (Manny Jacinto)

The revelation comes amid a thrilling fight as Qimir tells Master Sol (Lee Jung-Jae) that all he wanted was to practice his power without having to comply with the rules of the Jedi Order. In the first few episodes, Qimir is the accomplice of Mae as she goes on a mission to kill Jedi Masters. Qimir helps her kill Torbin (Dean-Charles Chapman) and he kills Kelnacca (Joonas Suotamo) himself.

While we got to know a lot about the masked Sith Lord, there is still a lot to be revealed.

Sith Lord's identity and backstory remain unknown

While we know him as Qimir, this certainly isn't the Sith Lord's real name and was an alias for being Mae's accomplice. He tells Master Sol that he likes to call himself Sith.

'The Acolyte' has left a lot of questions unanswered and among those unanswered questions is the true identity and backstory of this Sith Lord. Usually, the Sith Lords have names like Darth Sidious and Darth Maul in the 'Star Wars' universe, so it is unusual for this Sith Lord to not have a name.

Further, there are many unanswered questions about his origin, how he learned to use the force and the have the skills he has with the lightsaber. There are speculations doing rounds about him being a rogue Sith or someone who pretends to be from the Dark side.

It is also unclear why he would need a pupil to finish the Jedi Masters off when he could have done it all by himself. His connection with Mae also remains a mystery.

What is next for the Sith Lord in 'The Acolyte'?

The Sith lord says that he intends to kill anyone who knows about his identity but we know that Master Sol is still alive and surely in the next episodes the Sith Lord will attempt to kill Master Sol.

We also see him use the Force to heal Osha who had been incapacitated by her twin sister Mae. Now that the Sith Lord has no confidence in Mae, will he begin to groom Osha as his new pupil? We have seen Osha's commitment to the Jedi so it will be interesting to see how that dynamic plays out.

As pointed out above, there are many unanswered questions about his backstory, so we might see a flashback portion of his origins as we saw for Mae and Osha in Episode 3
