Plot
According to the official 'Star Wars' website, "'The Acolyte' is a mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era."
Announced on February 24, 2020, the 'High Republic' launch was announced by 'Star Wars', featuring a number of new stories across comics, novels, childrens' books and more covering the early days of the High Republic, featuring the Jedi at the height of their power. The first major novel set in this era, 'The High Republic – Light of the Jedi' by Charles Soule is set to release early in 2021. By the time 'The Acolyte' releases, a fair number of stories set in this realm will have been released, making 'The Acolyte' an incredibly important story of how the era of the High Republic first began to fall to the influences of the Dark Side of the Force.

The series was announced on December 10 in addition to a whole slew of 'Star Wars' films and television series as part of 2020 Disney Investors Day, where it was announced that 'Russian Doll' creator Leslye Headland would be helming the project.
