LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' Episode 5 aired on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, on Disney+, revealing Qimir (Manny Jacinto) as the identity of the masked master, marking a significant revelation in the series.

Events of 'The Acolyte' take place 100 years before the events of 'Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace' and chronicles the rise of the dark order.

In the first four episodes, a determined Mae (Amandla Stenberg) tries to kill four Jedi Masters.

Her twin sister Osha and Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) work to thwart her, only to discover she is following instructions from the masked master, later revealed to be Qimir.

Apart from Qimir, 'The Acolyte' also features several Easter eggs that reference other events in the 'Star Wars' universe.

Force Healing

The end of the episode reveals Qimir using the Force to heal Osha, who was incapacitated by her sister Mae. This introduces Force healing as a concept within the series.

We see Force healing used in the prequel trilogy, and Qimir employs it to heal Osha. Qimir recognizes Osha by her short hair and likely intends to groom her as his apprentice now.

Dejarik

Dejarik is a form of holographic chess played in the 'Star Wars' universe, and in the final moments of the episode, we see it being played by a couple of aliens.

The game in 'The Acolyte' differs from other versions in terms of the technology it employs.

We see Mae, disguised as Osha, walking with Master Sol, while an unrelated scene shows Dejarik. It will be intriguing to see if this game becomes a plot point in the series.

Jedi recruiting children

In Episode 3, Mother Aniseya (Jodie Turner-Smith) expresses her reservations about sending Osha with the Jedi, while Qimir discusses the Jedi recruitment of children.

This criticism of the Jedi becomes increasingly prominent in later iterations of the series as the timeline progresses in the 'Star Wars' universe.

Mae and Osha's connection to Anakin Skywalker

During the episode, Mae expresses dissatisfaction with Osha arresting her, highlighting her loyalty to the Jedi. She echoes something similar to what Anakin Skywalker says in 'Revenge of the Sith'.

The characters of Mae and Osha have been closely associated with Anakin Skywalker continuously because of them having their dark and light sides.

Cortosis

Qimir wears the Cortosis helmet in Episode 5, which proves effective protection against lightsabers and possesses additional powers. Qimir also uses it to manipulate thoughts.

The Cortosis is a major reason Qimir can conquer multiple Jedi as he renders their lightsabers useless in the fight.
