'The Acolyte': 5 nail-biting theories about mysterious Sith Lord and his true intentions
Contains spoilers and speculation for 'The Acolyte'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' premiered on June 4, 2024, on Disney+, and the intriguing 'Star Wars' prequel series has created an uncomparable buzz among the 'Star Wars' fans who might not have received it with all their heart but still keep track of the plot and follow it religiously.
One of the most important plot points in 'The Acolyte' is the revelation of the mysterious masked figure who was Mae's (Amandla Stenberg) masked master who was teased in the first four episodes before finally being revealed as Mae's accomplice Qimir (Manny Jacinto).
Episodes 5 & 6 delved deep into the backstory of the mysterious man and how he became this Sith Lord. Many aspects of the man's character need to be explored. Here, we explore 5 theories about the Sith Lord's true identity.
Qimir's connection with Kylo Ren
Kylo Ren is a character in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' who was betrayed by his master Luke Skywalker. The story is similar to Qimir's story as he reveals in Episode 6 when Qimir tells Osha that he was once a Jedi who a master betrayed.
The fans of the 'Star Wars' franchise were also quick to notice Kylo Ren's theme playing in Episode 5. This might hint at a future connection. It could be possible that like their pasts, their futures might be similar to each other too.
Qimir is fighting against time
The events of 'The Acolyte' are happening at a breakneck speed and Jedi are getting killed quickly. Whatever Qimir's past may be, it could be possible that his future is uncertain and he is fighting against time for something.
The fact that he is so desperate for a pupil and is willing to go extra mile and expedite Mae's actions by taking up the alias of Qimir in the first place signals that he is up against it.
Qimir is connected to Brendok
Episode 3 showed how the Jedi were responsible for the happenings at Brendok where a fire burnt down the coven and Mae was presumed to be dead for a long time.
Mae resurfaces with Qimir commanding her so there is a possibility that Qimir has some connection with the planet where Mae and Osha originate from.
Further, in Episode 5, we see Qimir hinting at knowing Master Sol's (Lee Jung-jae) past and how it might have affected Osha and Mae's future.
Osha to be Qimir's pupil
Osha is the quintessential protagonist in this series but it seems that her chemistry with Qimir might turn her against the Jedi soon. Her past might be connected to her possible angst against the Jedi.
In Episode 6, we see an uncomfortable but palpable chemistry between Osha and Qimir and he makes her try the Cortosis helmet too. There could be a chance that Osha indeed becomes his pupil and joins the dark side.
Master Vernestra was Qimir's Jedi Master
Master Vernestra (Rebecca Henderson) uses a lightsaber whip and when Osha sees Qimir's back, she looks at a scar that resembles a lightsaber whip scar.
He talks about being thrown out by a Jedi Master so it might be possible that Master Vernestra was the Jedi Master who threw Qimir out and she could be the ultimate target of his.
