Sweet or creepy? Fans argue after Matt Healy checks ID before giving fan her first kiss during concert
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Matt Healy is in the news for kissing another fan during performance. The frontman of the band The 1975 spotted a homemade sign made by a female fan asking Healy to be her "first kiss," and after checking her ID to make sure she was of legal age, he jumped down from the stage and kissed her.
"You better not be f***ing 16," he tells her as the woman shouts back that she has ID proving she is 22. The fan hands her ID to the security guard, who gives it to Healy for verification. "Are you ready? Are you ready for your first kiss?" he asks her, grabbing her face. He then gives her two short kisses in front of ecstatic onlookers.

The kiss received mixed response from fans online; some were happy for the fan while others thought Matt was creepy, Daily Mail reports. One fan commented, "Imagine getting to say you kissed Matty Healy. You win at life girl." Another added, "His little smirk and the “yeah 100 percent” … he was totally into you girl."

Others, however, were not quite impressed by the stunt. One TikTok user commented, "That is the most unsettling thing I’ve ever seen". Another wrote, "There’s something just a little creepy about this." A third added, "If by sweet you mean creepy then yes I agree."
After Healy was criticized by a number of female fans online, the young woman, identified as Carmen Mattson, came to Healy's defense writing, "I did this, he saw it and brought me up, HE ASKED before he kissed me!"
Last month, the singer shocked fans when he kissed two concertgoers during his shows. Isabella was the first fan Healy invited to the stage and kissed in front of the audience. She was holding up a sign that read, "So we making out?" There was some controversy about consent issues as a video of them kissing went viral on social media.

Isabella has since confirmed that the kiss was consensual, tweeting, “On a real note I do want to state some facts before we get any farther, i had this on my phone because he mentioned at some point “I can only make out with you”. So I did this, he saw it and brought me up, HE ASKED before he kissed me! Also I’m a grown age of 24 [sic]."
Mid-performance kisses aren't new ground for Healy. He kissed a male fan during a concert performance in a 2014 Dubai show to protest the country's anti-LGBTQ laws, as reported by Paper. The 1975 has been on tour to promote their new album "Being Funny in a Foriegn Language". The band's tour has produced a number of recent viral videos featuring the 1975 leader, including Healy ranting at concert staff to assist a fan while using an autotune microphone. He also garnered attention earlier this month when he consumed raw meat on stage.
