'Terminator: Dark Fate' star Gabriel Luna hopes to see spin-off series on the killing machines
'Terminator: Dark Fate' star Gabriel Luna teased that he would like to see a spin-off of the franchise. In an interview with Comicbook, the 'Ghostrider' star hoped to see the killer's creation and the possibility of him returning if there is another project in the works. "There are always contingencies for the filmmakers to make sure that they have everything sorted," Luna said.
"To me, it's really just moment to moment. I hadn't considered a possibility of returning, but after the film was done, we were all doing the press rounds and doing some Q and As and stuff, seeing the audience's response and how much they really loved the character and the 'New Terminator,' as everyone calls him. I kind of jokingly threw the idea around to (director) Tim (Miller), this thing has a real mind of a stand-alone picture, Joker-esque. You know, an anatomy of a killing machine kind of movie."
Luna plays the Rev-9, an advanced form of the Terminator with a solid endoskeleton surrounded by a layer of mimetic poly-alloy. What catches the eye is the fact that it can separate the alloy from the endoskeleton to become two Terminators. The Rev-9 almost appears to be a combo of a T-800 and a T-1000, rather a sleeker, agile, design and build.
From what we have seen in the trailer so far, Rev-9 comes across as the most formidable Terminator seen in the franchise so far. The machine can withstand heavy gunfire, extreme temperature and magnetic fields — the weaknesses of all its previous models. It is ultimately destroyed by Grace's (Mackenzie Davis) power core. It still is the strongest Terminator in the history of the franchise.
'Terminator: Dark Fate' is now available in Digital HD. The 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD versions release on January 28.
