Spoilers for ‘Tell Me a Story’ Season 2 Episode 6 ‘Lost and Found’

The first episode of the second season of ‘Tell Me a Story’ saw the singer Ashley Rose (Natalie Alyn Lind) become the victim of a car-bombing. Ashley gets burnt when a car-bomb explodes and is left disfigured -- half her face is covered in skin grafts now. As the series went forward, we saw a man called Kyle (Casey Thomas Brown), who seemed obsessed with her.

Kyle is depicted as an unhinged fan of Ashley Rose. We see him burn himself after Ashley Rose gets burnt. He stalks her, enters her home, attacks the private security guards and ultimately, gets shot to death by Beau (Eka Darville), Ashley Rose’s personal security guard.

But Kyle’s death was not the end of Ashley Rose’s ordeal. In the last episode, we saw Beau unconvinced that Kyle could have been the man who car-bombed her. He, with the help of his friends in the police force, access video footage Kyle made from the day of the explosion. And in one of the videos, he sees a man planting something in Ashley Rose’s car. Further investigation revealed the man’s address. So, Beau and his father Ken Morris (Evan Parke) reached the man’s place to confront him.

But things go south when the man shoots Ken. In this episode, we saw Beau further investigate, while still worried if his father would survive this. Once Ken was out of danger, he goes on a hunt again. He tracks down the man and confronts him at gunpoint. The man says he was a hired hand. He was told to plant the bomb. But he did not know who had given the orders. Before he could enquire further, he attacks and the two get into a physical altercation. Luckily and unluckily, a cop friend arrives there as a deus ex machina and kills the man.

So, one has to wonder who would try to kill Ashley Rose? While it could be anyone, there are two characters who are both the last to be on the suspicion list and who might have reasons to do this that are deeply complicated. The first one is Ashley Rose’s mother Rebecca (Carrie-Anne Moss). The other is Ashley Rose’s sister Maddie (Odette Annable).

Neither character has any outward motive, but both have the advantage of being the least likely to be suspected. Her mother might stand to profit from insurance if her star daughter died in a “freak accident”. She would receive all the sympathy and all the money. Of course, that’s not the only reason to suspect her of foul play. She seems disinterested in finding out more about why her daughter was attacked. She also seems cold and calculating. It’s a gut instinct, but she seems like a very likely candidate.

Maddie, on the other hand, is much more complicated than Rebecca. On the face of it, Maddie seems like a happy person. Yes, there are ups and downs, but she is in a loving relationship. She also seems like a loving elder sister. But that may all just be a show. Maddie may have suffered from all the attention her star of a baby sister enjoyed all her life. She may have suffered her mother’s indifference. And she may secretly be harboring intense jealousy.

There is nothing yet that proves either of those motives. But this show has a way of bringing out twists. And these may just be the twists that conclude the story.

New episodes of ‘Tell Me a Story’ Season 2 air every Tuesday at 9 pm ET, only on The CW.
