Protests erupted all over the US when a video surfaced showing George Floyd's arrest. The video caused an uproar among people as it showed Floyd struggling to breathe and asking the police officer to remove his knee from his neck. Despite countless requests and interference from bystanders, the officer did not move his leg. The video showcased Floyd lying lifeless on the floor while the officer continued to kneel on his neck. Finally, an ambulance came to take Floyd away but he was soon pronounced dead. Following this, many people took to the streets to showcase how it was time for change to come.

Many chanted slogans of "Black Lives Matter". Celebrities were quick to join in and many took to social media to express their disappointment over how things were shaping in the country. Celebrities like Madonna, Jameela Jamil, Billie Eilish and others also raised their voice. In many cities too, protests took an ugly turn as people started looting stores and police had to resort to tear gas to disperse the rioters. Many media outlets reported the incident as it took shape but people have been disappointed with how Telemundo and Univision chose to bring attention to the event taking place across the US.

Telemundo and Univision

Telemundo and Univision are known to be outlets that take pride in their Hispanic heritage and make sure they are the source of news for their community. While many people in the community tend to watch the channels, they have recently received heat for how they chose to report the protests. Many thought these channels were inducing fear in the people and sensationalizing violence. "Telemundo really only talking about violence and looting while completely ignoring WHY this is happening in the first place! These media outlets need to educate themselves and help fight for just justice instead of demonizing people for fighting for justice and human rights!" read one comment.

"I am glad people are calling out Telemundo and Univision!! All they do is miss inform our parents while sensationalizing violence! No wonder all of our parents are so afraid of the world... I mean what would you expect from companies run by white European looking people?" read another comment. "I had an argument w some family members today... I noticed Telemundo and Univision AIN'T SH*T they brainwash our communities instead of hitting them w the true knowledge of what is actually going on out here. EDUCATE THEM PLEASE," another wrote.
