Teenager accused of 6-year-old Alesha MacPhail's murder joked about her death in Snapchat group

16-year-old boy accused of killing six-year-old Alesha MacPhail on the Isle of Bute last July, sent a Snapchat selfie to his friends mocking her death

The High Court in Glasgow heard Friday, Alesha MacPhail's alleged killer reportedly sent a Snapchat selfie to his friends the day authorities found her body. The selfie included the message: "Found the guy who's done it." On July 2 last year, the schoolgirl was found naked and face down in a woodland on the Isle of Bute with 117 injuries. The 16-year-old accused of abusing and killing Alesha, allegedly joked about her death during a chatroom discussion with several friends of his, the trial heard Friday, the Daily Mail reported.

Alesha's disappearance was discussed in a Snapchat group chat the day she was found murdered, according to a 16-year-old girl who was friends with the accused and gave evidence to the court. In an attempt at humor, the accused sent a video of himself in a mirror showing his top half without his face to the group, captioning it "found the guy who's done it." While the witness pushed it aside at the time as a "bad joke", she informed authorities when the news of his arrest broke.
