A teenage nursery worker has been named Britain's youngest female convicted pedophile after she admitted to sixteen charges of sexual abuse against young children, reports said.

Eighteen-year-old Sophie Elms pleaded guilty to the charges against two children, who were merely two and three years old when they were abused, during a trial at Swindon Crown Court.

The Daily Mail reports that Elms has been charged with penetration, sexual assault, taking and distributing indecent photographs of children, among other things. She also said that she was 17 years old at the time she committed the offenses.

Elms, who hails from Wiltshire, worked at a local nursery in Swindon but reports say that police confirmed that none of the alleged offenses are said to have happened at the childcare facility. Elms admitted sexually assaulting the two kids between December 1, 2016, and March 11, 2018. And between those dates, Elms also pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault in which she intentionally touched them indecently.

Apart from inappropriate touching, Elms committed four offenses of taking indecent photographs of children, which included two category A photographs, four category B photographs, and one category C photograph. Between January 1, 2016, and March 11, 2018, Elms committed six offences of distributing indecent photographs of children, that included three category A photographs, four category B photographs, and three category C photographs.

Defending Elms, Chris Smyth described the case as "highly unusual", saying: "Miss Elms was only 17 herself at the time when the offenses occurred."

Judge Robert Pawson said: "You have pleaded guilty to what I suspect you fully understand are extremely serious charges. I remand you into custody on the basis of fears for your own safety. Your sentencing will take place on January 4."

"Until that time, my strongest advice to you is that you avoid using social media for some time to come. You are very unlikely to make things better for your victims and their families by posting on social media, and you are very unlikely to make things better for yourself."
