'Teen Mom' alum Tyler Baltierra labeled 'immature' for calling out Carly's adoptive parents after they denied visit
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: At the moment, Tyler Bartierra is asking for some understanding and compassion. The former 'Teen Mom' star came to the defense of his wife Catelynn Lowell after she received backlash for opening up about her challenges about not being able to visit their daughter Carly, whom they gave up for adoption on MTV's 16 and Pregnant.
In response to the situation, the reality TV star took to his Instagram Story and issued a lengthy statement. It read, "Carly is almost 15 years old. Throughout those 15 years, her parents have chosen not to have our (mutually agreed upon) annual visit, MULTIPLE times!"
"We can waste our time asking questions, dissecting responses and begging for an answer ... but we are NOT entitled to it (regardless of how much we may believe/wish otherwise). All we can do is accept the decision without the requirement of an answer," he added.
Tyler also emphasized that he and his wife, Catelynn Lowell "have to trust that [Brandon and Teresa]'s decision is for the best interest of Carly. Because that is the honor, privilege, and gift we chose to give them when we decided that they would raise and be her parents."
Tyler added, "That choice does not come without a natural human cost. Most will never know the pain of what it takes to fight against the most powerful, biological & instinctual nature that's required to make that choice. Most will never know what it's like to grow, nurture, love & carry such a beautiful perfect innocence like your own baby... only to painfully relinquish that natural bond to another to do what you know you can't for the sake of your baby."
"There's no guessing. There's no false hope, and there's nothing you can do to bring them back or change it. But grieving your child while they still live is truly an unexplainable pain in so many ways, I won't even attempt to put it into words," he continued.
Then, Tyler defended his wife Catelynn, and shared, "With that pain, inevitable, comes emotional reactions and expressions. My wife fights this pain every day. Some days are a victory and some days are not. But her expressing that pain on those particular days when she is vulnerable, sad, and at a loss, should not be used as an attack against her character. All I ask of you is to just PLEASE be kind."
"I know the assumptions, criticism, and judgments are all part of the territory when it comes to living your life in the 'spotlight,' but we're still human beings at the end of the day. This whole thing is hard for everyone involved. We're only human after all and I believe we all could use some more grace and understanding towards one another!" he concluded.
Soon after, the netizens shared their take on the whole matter on social media. One Reddit user penned, "The way he writes is always so performative and disingenuous."
Another fan wrote, "Tyler this is what you do in YOUR PERSONAL LIFE that influenced this decision … you and your wife won’t shut the fuck up about THEIR CHILD!!!! Like I’m sorry I know this sounds harsh but once you both signed those papers …. Brandon and Theresa became her parents!"
The fan continued, "And maybe you both can’t comprehend this but this decision was probably also made by C because she probably is uncomfortable being around you both. This is disgusting behavior by both of you….please leave them alone for Christ sake!"
Another fan said, "Really Ty? There’s NOTHING you’ve done to maybe bring some of this on?? Nothing you can think of??? Ok." Another fan noted, "They are never going to learn. 🤦🏻♀️ Nobody is denying that this is hard and that there's pain but keep it off the internet and TV!"
One fan wrote, "First off, they run a fan page for themselves? Maybe if C&T consistently showed up and regularly engaged, they may have a better relationship with Carly and her parents." Another fan said, "They’re consistently proving why B&T are keeping their daughter away from them. They’re so messy and immature."
