Biden camp fears Trump fans will crash inauguration ceremony and make it 'a s**tshow', Internet says 'go virtual'
President-elect Joe Biden's team is worried that POTUS Donald Trump's supporters will try and crash his Inauguration Day celebration and disrupt the event in Washington DC. Biden's team is anticipating a possible Trump supporter protest as they make arrangements for Biden's swearing-in ceremony, which will take place on January 20, 2021. Officials who have been doing the planning spoke to the Daily Beast on Wednesday and shared that the "last thing" they want is MAGA rally taking place on the White House lawn.
One official, who is believed to be involved in the planning, said, "What do you do if our people don’t show up and his do? They probably will and the last thing you want is a MAGA rally on the Mall when Joe Biden is sworn in as president…. I think [Trump] would want to make it as much of a s**tshow as possible."
An official had also noted that the clash between Biden celebrators and Trump supporters could possibly create the mass gathering storm which public health experts have been warning against amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The official shared, "I think it’s going to be almost impossible to keep people away from the Mall."
"If Saturday is any indication of how people want to participate, it is going to be hard. Part of the point of it is to allow people to participate and the cathartic nature of it being the end of Trump. People are going to want to go," the official added.
On Tuesday, November 10, Michael Cohen spoke to MSNBC and said he believes the president will miss out on Biden's inauguration as he does "not have the inner strength in him to be gracious."
Many social media users have weighed in on the possibility of Trump supporters crashing the event and have suggestions of their own. One such user shared, "Go virtual. It worked before and it'll work again." Another user pointed out, "Given COVID and the risk from Trump supporters (the latter being my biggest concern), I'd be suggesting a virtual, televised event with very limited and vetted attendees." "Have the inauguration with families and officials. Delay the celebration. We shouldn't be getting a big crowd together in January," wrote another user.

Yet another shared, "Good thing president-elect Joe Biden isn’t such a petty narcissist that crowd size is important to him. He’s humble and responsible with the nation’s health. I’m happy to watch him sworn in from a distance that won’t kill my community." Another commented, "They need to have a fully virtual inauguration, indoors. No one attends in person except Biden, Harris, their spouses and Roberts to do the swearing in. Everyone else can watch it from home. If that sounds too restrictive, you need to think about it some more."

When the election results were announced, Trump was left fuming and enraged that he had lost and claimed he would not be attending the inauguration of Biden whom he had called a "phony president". Trump had found out about his election loss while he had been golfing and has been making claims of voter fraud.
