Teacher suspended after she made black and white kindergarten children sit separately in classroom
The local education department announced it was launching a probe into the incident and that they would be investigating the principal of the school as well.
A school teacher in South Africa has been suspended after it emerged she had made the two children sit separately and away from the others in her class, allegedly because of their color. The incident, which occurred at the Laerskool Schweizer-Reneke Kindergarten, has sparked a furious backlash from parents, as well as political parties.
According to the Daily Mail, the incident came to light after the teacher herself shared an image of the classroom on to the school's Whatsapp group to show parents how their children's first day back was going. While it seemed like a normal snap at first glance, a closer look reveals that the pupils, aged between just four and five-years-old, are separated by color.
