Florida teacher had sexual encounter with teen student on his couch while his mom slept beside them
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA: A former teacher was arrested on October 16, after she admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with her student. Kristen O’Brien reportedly told the boy’s mother that she had an “inappropriate emotional relationship” with her son and also claimed to have had a sexual encounter with the underage victim at his home in September.
The 31-year-old accused said as reported by the Daytona Beach News Journal that after she developed a “crush” on the child, she tried to be friends with his family in order to visit his home frequently. O’Brien also attempted to make the student jealous by taking his brother to McDonald's. The teacher, who left her job in United Brethren in Christ Academy in Holly Hill in September, has now been charged with lewd and lascivious battery sex act on a child between 12 and 16 years old.
According to reports, the student’s mother found out about them while checking her son’s phone. She saw messages exchanged between her son and O’Brien on Instagram. She soon contacted the teacher and asked her to meet her in the parking lot of a Steak ‘N Shake. The police report stated that during the meeting, the former teacher told the mother that she had feelings for her son, whom she gave three options after confessing to him. First, he would completely forget that she told something like that to him, second, they could stop any kind of communication between them, and the third was to act on the feeling and not worry about the consequences, the arrest report revealed.
O’Brien reportedly even visited her student’s house on September 6 after befriending his mother. Police said the boy, his mother, and the accused, all of them were on the couch, where the mother fell asleep. When she awoke, the former teacher was still there before leaving for her house at 5 in the morning, the report stated. When the mother confronted O’Brien during the meeting, she also mentioned the time the teacher at her home on September 6. The accused told the mother that when she fell asleep, his son and O'Brien had a sexual encounter. The police report said that the student touched the woman in a sexual manner under a blanket while his mother slept near them.
Investigators said that O’Brien also gave tuitions to the victim’s brother. The accused is expected to appear before a court of law in November. Currently, she is out on bail after paying $50,000 bail.
In another incident, a Louisiana man was arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating an eleven-year-old girl. Wendell Sanchez reportedly fled after dropping the victim at a hospital after she complained of pain in her stomach. But the 34-year-old accused was eventually caught by deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office with the help of the Gonzales Police Department in a nearby apartment complex, where he was found possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia. Sanchez was then taken to the Ascension Parish Jail, where he has been held at $540,000 bond.
