LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After so much speculation about the ongoing romance between Taylor Swift and Matt Healy, it has been revealed that the duo were "never boyfriend and girlfriend", according to new reports. Multiple outlets previously stated that the duo has been dating each other for weeks but now a source close to the 33-year-old confirmed that the 'Wildest Dreams' singer was single again on Monday, June 5.
It has also been claimed that there was never any strong affection between the singer and The 1975 rocker and they will return to being friends, despite reports alleging that they were "madly in love" and even planning to move in together.
'It was always casual'
"She had fun with him, but it was always casual. They are no longer romantically involved", a source confirmed to People. Another insider stated, "They were never boyfriend-girlfriend or exclusive and were always just having fun. There is no drama, and who knows what could happen again. It was a good time and ran its course." The source also added, "Taylor is doing great — her focus right now is her tour. Since Matty is touring too, they won't be able to see each other at all. They have been friends for years and decided to just go back to being friends. Nothing complicated happened. It's just life." A third source however claimed that the pair "still care for one another" and are "still friends."
Taylor was 'letting off steam'
According to Page Six, sources said Taylor was "letting off steam" with the short-lived romance following her 'stifling' romance with Alwyn and she will "not be writing albums" about Matty. "Everyone who really knows her has been saying all along that this was a fun, good time thing that would last as long as it lasted and would be no big deal once it was done", the tipster said. "She will not be writing albums about this one. It was a summertime thing. Does everyone have amnesia about Tom Hiddleston? Jesus Christ. She’s allowed to let off some steam and sow her oats afterward without people claiming first that she’s head over heels and then that she’s breaking up with the guy. It’s not a breakup. It’s a natural evolution of a fun little thing whose moment is over."

Their break-up comes just three days after the 34-year-old was seen kissing a male security guard at a Denmark concert. The performer was first linked to Swift in 2014 following their first meeting. "She had fun with him, but it was always casual. They are no longer romantically involved", a source told People magazine.
What sparked off relationship rumors?
In April this year, their relationship rumors were made public after a source confirmed it to The Sun. "She and Matty are madly in love", the source said. "It’s super-early days, but it feels right. They first dated, very briefly, almost ten years ago but the timings just didn’t work out." The source also spoke about Swift's ex to the publication, "Taylor and Joe actually split up back in February, so there was absolutely no crossover." The source continued, "Both Matty and Taylor have been touring over the past few weeks, so it’s been a lot of Face-Timing and texting but she cannot wait to see him again," and added that the two stars, "are incredibly supportive of their respective careers."

It was also reported that Matty was preparing to move in with the second richest female popstar last month.
A source informed the outlet, "He and Taylor are so loved up and want to spend as much time together as they can. Matty has already told the 1975 team that he’ll be doing all the band demos in America for the foreseeable." The insider added, "He will work on his parts for their collaboration while she is on tour and has scheduled time to attend select shows to gather inspiration for her next album."
