At the end of 'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' Episode 15, we saw how Lee Yeon had jumped to his death along with Imoogi into the Samdo River which means that he can no longer be reborn either. When Lee Rang and Ji-ah realize that Lee Yeon can now never return back to them they do not deal very well with the change. For instance, Lee Rang ends up closing himself in without speaking to his friends or talking to Yu-ri even when Ji-ah ends up visiting the places that she had been to with Lee Yeon all alone.

Just as she had promised to Lee Yeon, Ji-ah decides to wait for him despite hearing from everyone that it would be impossible for Lee Yeon to return. She not only refuses to accept that he won't return, she also begs everyone who could possibly figure out a way to get Lee Yeon to return to help her find a way. She says she is ready to do anything required if only to get a chance at meeting Lee Yeon again. In this vein, she is more proactive than Lee Rang or that is how it seems at the beginning. However, in just a bit, we learn that Lee Rang has also put his feelers out to find a way to bring his brother Lee Yeon back.

In the meantime, both Ji-ah and Lee Rang receive a letter and a video respectively from Shin-joo which he had received from Lee Yeon. He uses this video to get Lee Rang to get out of his funk and finally Lee Rang manages to lead a normal life, and from the looks of it, he also seems to take care of the little boy that he had saved from an abusive stepfather really well. Yu-ri and Shin-joo on the other hand have found their happy ending while Ji-ah, with Lee Yeon's final words of support, still finds it difficult to move on. So what we see at the end of the promo is that both Lee Rang and Ji-ah end up at a place that the two of them had visited before.

It is where Ji-ah had given her yeowu guseol up and the place where Lee Rang had got the tigertail glasses as well. So when both Ji-ah and Lee Rang see each other here again, they are both shocked because both of them seem to have been hoping to find Lee Yeon somehow. Will they succeed?

'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' will be aired on tvN on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10.30 pm KST and can be streamed on Viki Global.
