There is a part of Imoogi within Ji-ah, a part that puts her in danger with the water dragon monster the more time passes in 'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' and in the upcoming episode we will see how this part begins to ruin her life. At the end of the last episode, we saw how Ji-ah was ecstatic to have reunited with her parents who had gone missing for the longest time.

However, this happiness that she feels at the moment is not going to last long because there is a part of the Imoogi's plan that neither Ji-ah nor Lee Yeon has been able to uncover.

Having dealt with Lee Yeon earlier, Imoogi is not as careless as before and neither does he underestimate Lee Yeon. So there is a plan that the Imoogi has made in his head and it looks like he has started to put things in motion. The promo of the upcoming episode leaves us worried because Lee Yeon might lose everything that he had worked so hard to get all these years.

For instance, if Lee Rang hadn't been helping Lee Yeon and Ji-ah gather intel about ground cherries, he might not have been at risk. Then we see Ji-ah struggle to be strong in the face of pressure from the Imoogi as her friends are also put at risk.

We see how she even gets ready to hurt herself and this has got to do with the part of her that belongs to Imoogi. Lee Yeon also looks like he finds it difficult to help Ji-ah out of the quandary that she is in. Will she have to overcome this obstacle all on her own or will Lee Yeon have to line up another sacrifice for her safety. We are not sure what it is but Lee Yeon definitely is not going to stay idle as the Imoogi ends up creating havoc.

In fact, we hear Lee Yeon say that he wants everything returned to its original place and we wonder if this means Ji-ah will have to return to a time when she didn't know Lee Yeon or if he will return to becoming a forest spirit.

Either way, the person that Lee Yeon seems to be asking this favor is Taluipa. This brings us to the next possibility. One of the plot lines that we had found interesting in the previous episodes but was not explored in depth is about Taluipa's — the gatekeeper of Samdochun River — son.

First, we heard that he had committed suicide and in Episode 11, it is revealed by Taluipa's husband that their son wouldn't have died by suicide if not for her killing his wife. She explains that it was important that the woman who was taken over by a ghost that brought about a plague be killed instead of hundreds of others being put at risk and that seems to have pushed her son to decide against living his life.

In the trailer, we once again hear about a plague that is about to take Seoul over and this seems like the perfect set-up to introduce more background stories about the gatekeeper and her husband.

'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' will air on tvN on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10.30 pm KST and can be streamed on Viki Global.
