'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' Episode 9: Will Lee Yeon be able to save both Lee Rang and Ji-ah from Imoogi?
After Lee Tae-ri was introduced as the Imoogi in 'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' Episode 8, a lot changed between Lee Yeon (Lee Dong-wook), Lee Rang (Kim Beom), and Ji-ah (Jo Bo-ah). For one, we realize that the Imoogi has no plans of killing Ji-ah, which is what Lee Rang has always wanted. He wanted to teach his brother Lee Yeon who abandoned him a lesson, but the Imoogi is more interested in using Lee Yeon just as he wanted to use him in the past. In fact, Ji-ah in her past life as Ae-eum had believed that Lee Yeon would do his best to not be used by the Imoogi, however, something went horribly wrong and resulted in her death. Everything began with the Imoogi using Ae Eum as bait to get to the gumiho. However, that is something that Lee Rang, in his hate-filled mindset is unable to understand.
Also, the fact that his life was saved by none other than the man who serves the Imoogi has us wondering if Lee Rang can cut away from Imoogi even if he wants to. Take for instance how Lee Rang was pulled into his worst nightmare and was forced to relive his fears of being abandoned all because the Imoogi wanted to check if Lee Rang could be used against Lee Yeon. Turns out, the half gumiho could be. Now that Lee Yeon has chosen to open the door leading to his brother and prove him wrong, what about Ji-ah. Sure, Lee Rang might understand now that his brother had never abandoned him, but can Ji-ah last long enough in her own nightmare?
The promo of the upcoming episode teases Ji-ah caught in the worst possible situation and that is the day when she lost her parents on the roads of Yeowu Gohae. She is back in the car, but now she is an adult who is unable to change anything. Despite calling out to her father, hoping that he could hear her and stop the car before it hits the roads that resulted in their loss, she is unsuccessful. When we say loss, we do not mean that her parents died, but that she literally lost them. According to Taluipa, the lady who now governs the underworld and happens to be the sister of the Lord of the underworld, her parents are not dead. So if they are not, then where are they? It also seems as if all of this is somehow connected to Imoogi, and it is only with Lee Yeon, Lee Rang and Ji-ah together that the Imoogi can be won over.
