'Sylvie's Love': Meet Tessa Thompson, Eva Longoria, Nnamdi Asomugha and the rest of the cast of the Prime Video movie

Amazon Prime Video's latest addition to its ever-expanding romantic drama slate is sure to give you some major 'La La Land' vibes. Coming from writer-director Eugene Ashe, the film titled 'Sylvie's Love'  promises an impeccable soundtrack. But that's not all. Featuring the actress who played Valkyrie in Marvel's Thor franchise, the romance set in the '60s is also packed with a star-studded cast.

According to the official synopsis of the film, the plot follows the titular Sylvie's summer romance with a saxophonist who takes a summer job at her father's record store in Harlem. When they reconnect years later, they discover that their feelings for each other have not faded with the years. Very 'Love, Rosie' if the Lilly Collins-Sam Clalin starter was a period drama, right? Tessa Thompson

Daughter of singer-songwriter Marc Anthony Thompson and the granddaughter of actor-musician Bobby Ramos, Thompson has made quite the name for herself in the industry. Before she gained fame for playing 'Valkyrie' in 'Thor: Ragnarok', Thompson's first on-screen job was in the cult classic teen detective thriller 'Veronica Mars'. Thompson had made headlines when she had come out as bisexual and opened up about her relationship with Janelle Monae, although the two are rumored to be on-again, of again now. Thompson plays the titular Sylvie in the Prime Video movie and her other credits include the likes of 'Creed', 'Dear White People', and 'Annihilation'.

Nnamdi Asomugha

The former All-Pro NFL defensive back from Los Angeles, California began his professional football career with the Oakland Raiders after being selected in the first round of the 2003 NFL draft. In 2013, he retired after 11 seasons in the NFL, but by then he had already made his acting debut. The biggest titles to his credit as a producer as 'The Banke', 'Harriet', and 'Beasts of No Nation'. Asomugha plays the role of Sylvie's love, Robert, in the Prime video film. His first feature film appearance being 'Fire with Fire' (2012), alongside Bruce Willis, Josh Duhamel, and Rosario Dawson.

Eva Longoria

Known for her roles in 'Desperate Housewives', 'Harsh Times', 'The Sentinel', and 'In a World', Longoria was most recently seen in NBC's 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' as Andy Samberg's lead character Jake Peralta's girlfriend Sophia. She had also appeared on 'Jane The Virgin' as herself and even lent her voice for the hit animated dark comedy 'BoJack Horseman'. Longoria plays the role of Carmen in the upcoming film. 

Aja Naomi King

You might recognize her as a familiar face from a very popular television drama. King played the role of Michaela Pratt - one of the lead characters on the Viola Davis ABC drama 'How to Get Away with Murder' that wrapped its six-year-long run earlier in 2020. King has also starred in some of the biggest titles of the industry, like 'The Birth of a Nation', 'The Upside', and 'Four'. 

'Sylvie's Love' premieres this Wednesday, December 23, only on Amazon Prime Video.
