LA man dies after being struck by 3 separate hit-and-run drivers with the last one dragging his body for half a mile: 'No one stopped to render aid'
LOS ANGELES: Detectives are currently on the lookout for suspects linked to the death of a 62-year-old man who was dragged nearly 13 blocks after being struck by three different hit and run vehicles on Thanksgiving.
Jihad Muhammad had been on foot on Adams Boulevard close to West View Street when he was struck by the first car at around 8:40 pm, the LAPD revealed in a news release. As reported by KTLA 5, the white sedan which looked a lot like an Audi 5 had been headed east on Adams when it rammed into Muhammad, investigators revealed.
According to surveillance footage, the car was seen briefly pulling to the side of the road before driving off east. A second car ran over Muhammad a couple of seconds later as he lay motionless in the street. The authorities revealed that the second car was very likely a white Cadillac Seville.
A couple of minutes later, Muhammad's body was spotted by a bystander who called 911 as Muhammad was struck by a third car which was likely a white or gray Ford Focus. The 62-year-old man became lodged under the vehicle which then headed down Adams Boulevard for almost a mile. The car then pulled into the Thrifty gas station located at the intersection with Crenshaw Boulevard.
The authorities revealed that the driver of the final car was a black woman who looked to be around 70 years old. The woman even got out of the car to see what was under her car but then got back into the vehicle and backed up, dislodging Muhammad's body. A passenger also got out of the car to see Muhammad before the vehicle zipped off.
All the three hit-and-run drivers failed to render aid to the victim who was pronounced dead at the gas station. The investigators have released a surveillance video from the first crash site and the gas station with the hopes of the public helping to identify those involved.
